Vancouver, British Columbia
Moderated by the warm ocean current, British Columbia boasts the balmiest temperatures in Canada.
When much of the country suffers through temperatures well below freezing, coastal British Columbia
often basks in warm breezes and sunshine. Vancouver is British Columbia's largest city, and Canada's
third largest, with a metropolitan population of approximately 2 million. Its surroundings are
impressive: cradled between mountains and sea, and spreading out through the wide and fertile
Fraser Valley and its delta. From a sleepy backwater, somewhat mockingly known as "Lotusland", it
has taken its place on the world stage as a sophisticated city, commercial hub of the province,
and gateway to the countries of the Pacific Rim.
I stayed at Amber Rochester, Coquitlam, which is near Vancouver city, during my trip to British
Columbia. It is a relatively
convenient place, with a shopping mall and a bus interchange not far away.
By taking a short walk up the slope, there is a bus stop and a post box. You can take
a bus at this bus stop to Vancouver and University of British Columbia (UBC).
I like the peacefulness and the simple lifestyle there.
