WEEK 09: POWER IN SYMMERICAL COMPONENTS

Sections: Power | Impedance | Students Challenge

Power

Definition.

S = P + jQ = VaI*a + VbI*b + VcI*c

Where:
Va Vb Vc are the voltages to neutral, and I*a I*b I*c are the currents.

Thus,

Or: S = [AV]T [AI]*

But: [AV]T = AT VT, and [AI]* = A* I*. Thus, S = AT VT A* I*. We also know:

AT = A because a and are conjugates, thus the equation becomes:

Thus, S= 3V0I0* + 3V1I1* + 3V2I2*
