<-- Back Items 29 - 39

Item 40: Total Number of Rotor Slots, SR
Formula: Use: SR = SA - X
Notes: Where X is an ODD integer that satisfactorily passes the following tests:
Test for Cogging: X ¹ 3p or its multiple.
Test for Cusp: X ¹ p, 2p, 5p.
Test for Noisy Operations: X ¹ 1, 2, p + 1, p + 2.

Item 41. Rotor Slot Pitch, lr
Formula: Use: lr = l × (SA / SR ).

Item 42. Current per Rotor Bar, Ir
Formula: Use: Ir = 0.85 Ic × (3 Z ) / SR.

Item 43. Rotor Bar Current Density, DR
Formula: Use: DR trial = 1.3 Dfinal.
Notes: Where: Dfinal is Stator Current Density, item 25.
Use 2,500 A/sq.in. if DR trial is less than this number.
Formula: Use: DR final = Ir / CSbfinal.
Limits: DR final ranges from 2,500 to 4,500 A/sq.in.

Item 44. Dimensions of Rotor Bar, tb × wb
Formula: Use: CSbtrial = Ir / Dtrial.
Formula: Use: tbtrial = a sq(CSbtrial).
Formula: Use: tbfinal = Round-off to nearest three decimals.
Formula: Use: wbtrial = CSbtrial / tbtrial.
Formula: Use: wbfinal = refer below:.

Notes: Choose the value that does NOT EXCEED the calculated wbtrial.
Formula: Use: CSbfinal = tbfinal × wbfinal .

Item 45. Width of Rotor Slot, sr
Formula: Use: sr = wbfinal

Item 45a. Width of Rotor Slot Opening, wR
Formula: Use: wR = 0.5 sr = 0.5 wbfinal

Item 46. Depth of Rotor Slot, dr
Formula: Use: dr = tbfinal + th
Item 46a. Thickness of of Rotor Tooth, th
Formula: Use: th = 0.35 wbfinal
Item 46b. Width of Rotor Tooth, tr
Formula: Use: tr = [ 2p ( D/2 - dr ) / SR ] - sr
Notes: Where: SR = No. of Rotor Slots, see Item 40.
sr = rotor slot width, see Item 45.

Item 47. Maximum Flux Density in Rotor Teeth, B"tR
Formula: Use: B"tR = ( ½p × F × p ) / SR × ln × tr
Notes: Where: F = Flux per pole, see Item 21.
SR = Rotor Slots, see Item 40.
ln = Net Armature Length, see Item 15.
Limits: Not to exceed 125,000 lines/sq.in., else increase rotor tooth width, tr.
Notes: B"tR should be rounded to nearest 1,000.
