It started as a
mad plan, but YanXian finally got us all to play the carnage game. With
1200 to each player, we had our first carnage game over at this amazing
place called Steel Helmet! I would also like to strongly encourage you
guys to drop over to that place cause it's really a great place to play!
The game was simple, each gamer starts in one corner of the table with
his 1200 army. Then we have to charge to capture the middle objective!
One problem though, you had to watch your back! All those alliances and
backstabbing! Hahhaaha! It can prove to strain your friendships too! (like
how Yan Xian backed out of one he made during his turn, traitor!) Nevertheless,
it proved to be an awesome game with it getting quite heated at one moment
between YanXian and me! HAhaha! All in the name of fun! I hope you guys
enjoy the following report!
Players:
Eugene :: Space
Wolves
YanXian :: Tau
YouChai :: Chaos Space Marines
Raymond :: Tyranids
The battle started
with YanXian and YouChai facing off each other with Eugene facing off
my Tyranids. We took our places and started deployment and lo and behold,
with 48 gaunts, everyone was more than ready to write off that the nids
will win! In the beginning many were more than willing to be my partner
but that was not to last. Let us continue with the battle proper.

Some Kroot finding shade and cover through the thick foliage located in
the side of YanXian's table. These Kroot proved to stave off the Chaos
warriors from YouChai.

This was the final
deployment for YanXian with the FireWarriors protecting their left most
flank with the battlesuits acting as their mobile reaction force.

A selection of troops
from Eugene's side. He deployed this army opposite mine and strangely,
he hid behind some forests and too up front. This caused him tons of pains
as my nids were able to contact and enter into HTH with his guys...all
that in the second phase...

A task force comprising
the awesome DaemonHunters were present at the battle too! Strangely, we
did not get to see it in action hunting the Chaotic lord! They were too
busy tied up with my gaunts...the Tyrant didn't get the chance to get
into HTH with them and luckily for me, the Gaunts held his lord off from
contacting my Tyrant (he had a power weapon!)
The Blood Claw pack
who were waiting on the left hand flank of the Space Wolve line. This
guys proved to be a good counter force but were unable to contact more
men against my gaunts which should have as they were very able to remove
my gaunts easily.

Eugene's Venerable
Dread who was to take my Tyrant down. He got into HTH to my eventually
but as luck deserted him that day, he rolled badly. Also, my Tyrant was
able to remove his powerfist, taking the best chance he had at ripping
out my Tyrant's heart. Not advisable to charge a creature that has a higher
initiative and MONSTROUS (counts 2D6 penetration)

This dread must
have been tagged by the carnifex from the early part of the game as it
was blown by a blast from my venom cannon just before he could charge
me! It would have changed the result of the game if this dread survived!
A glance then a 5 for result!

The horde that was
to charge like things on fire! Shame on me, the nids were not completely
painted! Nevertheless, I had 4 squads of 16 each deployed in my quarter
all prepared to gush out. I sent 2 squads each, a set to Eugene and another
to intercept YouChai or YanXian whichever got closer.
With this lurking
around the battlefield commanding the Nids while the Tyrant makes his
presense felt thus giving the Nids a very strong battleline. A good anchor,
I should use this dude more.

A rear view of the
Nid force surging forward in the cover of the woods. The amazingly sharp
shooting Fex can be seen at the edge of the forest. From here, the Nids
broke cover and made a mad dash towards the enemy lines.

The battle unfolds
on the first turn, a pre-dawn situation where it was night fight on the
first turn. I think that actually gives the HTH armies a leverage but
YanXian was still able to gun down many of YouChai's army. You Chai did
make the mistake of disembarking his men too far off from YanXian's lines.
One that lost him his main HQ squad except for the Lord.
