The view from the
other side, this time YanXian's. You can observe that both the parties
on this side of the table deploying hidden while the Nids and Chaos deployed
very open, charging on their first turn.
Ahh...the surviving
powerfist dude...who didn't wound my Tyrant till it was too late. Eventually
the marine was dispatched with the gaunts just spilling over to protect
the Tyrant. Always keep you tyrant supported! It helps a lot!
As the rest of the
gaunts sweep in, the Space Wolves find themselves surrounded at all corners...forcing
Eugene to waste his power weapon on my 6+ armoured gaunts thus allowing
my tyrant to survive the 4 turns of combat. With the tyrant in the vicinity,
the Nids never have to take a break test ensuring that the battle kept
on going.
Meanwhile, on the
other side of the battlefield, the Tau were rearranging their battlelines
to unleash their firepower onto the Chaos marines before YouChai closed
into his ranks. Leading the battleforce was YanXian's Alexandria.
Opposite the Tau
were the juicy targets. While YouChai deployed his men in the open, he
just forgot how effective the Tau firepower can be! After a complete turn
of shooting, the whole squad was wiped out to the last man, the elf looking
Chaos Lord! Boy, it wasn't a day for Chaos or Marines generally!
As half my army
was tied with the Space Wolves, I sent the other half into YouChai's deployment
zone with the hope of using my Fex to capture the tower (our objective!).
As they make the mad dash against the hail of bolters, the Nids did prove
that their 12" charge was effective! They got into combat the turn
they made the dash! Very worth the points!
The HTH that took
place between the Chaos Lord and Alexandria was getting dire, but lo and
behold, the Kroot came into the fray and assisted the combat! It was a
lucky break for YanXian. Dang, the Lord should've died....hehe....
The
last turn was turn 5 with YanXian and YouChai both making sweeping moves
to capture the objective. YouChai also managed to morph his Obliterators
into lascannons to wound my Fex once. Then with the remaining bolters,
the Fex finally let out an uneartly cry and fell to the ground. The Lictor
was subsequently removed also under a hail of bolters. The Gaunts earlier
had all been squashed to a mush...Chaos were good adversaries in HTH...mental
note. With YanXian moving his Hammerhead into the objective and his Kroot,
it was a tie between the forces of Chaos and Tau of Alexandria. The stage
was however set for another epic struggle as these two forces gathered
strength to claim the title of KING OF THE HILL!
Post
Mortem
As
the battle concluded, the only ones who had enough men left on the table
were YanXian and YouChai. Both sent enough men to claim the tower. Both
Eugene and I were equally left with almost no men...or monsters...so we
had to just sit back and look at the other two parties who allied in the
last few turns against us. There will be another day! Muahahhaa!
