Production Line Blues

See all the people standing
in the unemployment lines;
see all the people on the streets.
Those ole Production Line blues.
they put'em there.

Working for the system,
working for the man.

Ten to twelve hours a day,
six days a week.
No time out to be you,
Oh I've got them ole
Production Line Blues.

Working not for me,
working for the system,
working for the man.

Saw a farm in the classifieds,
too many bill's this year--
maybe next year.

Just one more year on the line.
mom's gonna quit--gonna be with us,
Oh I've got them ole
Production Line Blues.

Wife got sick in May,
Buried her in July--
Kid's need new clothes,
Ain't got no money--
Need more hours on the Line.

Working for the system,
working not for me--
Working for the man,
I've got those Production Line Blues.

Boss came in yesterday,
Productions off--Demands off--You're off!
You ain't needed no more,
Oh those Production Line Blues.

Bills to pay,
No decent jobs that pay,
Mouths to feed---Who'll Pay!
Bills to pay!

Standing in the unemployment line.
It was them Production Line Blues,
They put me here!

Working for the system,
working not for me--
Working not for the man now,
I've got those Production Line Blues.

Benefits about to run out,
cupboards empty---mouths to feed.
Whose gonna Pay?

Got a new job Monday,
Fourteen hours a day,
Six days a week---Minimumn Wage Pay.
No time out for me,
Working not for me.

Kid's need Shoes,
No headstone will mark her grave,
We need food---kids need Clothes,
Too many bills this year.
Just one more year---
Oh how I've got those Production Line Blues.

Working for the Man!

Six days a week to slave,
overtime on overtime--
Who's watching the kids,
No time,
No money.

Those Production Line Blues,
They put me here.

Working for the System,
Working not for me.
Working for the Man,
I've got those Production Line Blues.

Been a Siren,
Down at the factory.
Been an Accident on the Line.

Dad won't be home,
His heart quit.
Too much work they said.
Just one more year Dad said,
Only one---Now there's none.
Working for the System!

Who'll feed us now?
Moms gone,
Now Dad's gone.
Dad and Mom gone,
Who'll clothe and feed us,
now that they're gone?

Working for the System,
Working Not for Me.
Too many hours a day
six days a week.
No time out to be you.

Rent came due,
No Mom--
No Dad--
Who'll take care of us now?

The Man said Out!

No place to live--
streets our home now,
rats our family.
Ain't got no time now,
For those Production Line Blues.

Working for the System,
Working not for me--
Working for the man,
I've got those Production Line Blues no more.
