Cleaner Production
Implementation of cleaner production can be applied to all companies with the
goal of continual improvement of the economic and environmental
performance.
The cleaner production concept appeared in USA and it was used for the first
time by the 3M company. Its implementation leaded to 1200 pollution prevention
measures which returned $ 192, 000, 000 and reduced the quantity of hazardous
waste by 50%.
- Cleaner Production is, according to the official UNEP definition, -
the continuos application of an integrated preventive environmental
strategy to processes, products and services with the goale to
increase efficiency and reduce the risk not only to humans but to the
environment as well.
Besides the economic benefits of the implementation
of the cleaner production technologies (which are spectacular reaching sometimes up to
10 times the invested capital) there are also other advantages of the Cleaner
