EHS
Network Expands to meet growing needs of membership The EHS Network was started in Hesston in 1999 by
a few individuals who believed that it was important to "NETWORK with
other professionals in industry" to drive Environmental, Health, and
Safety to a World Class level in their own organizations. Due to strong Management Commitment and
Support and Extensive Employee Involvement, the group has grown tremendously
over the past couple of years. There are other organizations, which hold
training, and we do not wish to take away from those organizations. However, these meetings are geared
toward involving more employees in the overall process of Safety. We believe that with Management Commitment
and Support, Employees can and should become more responsible for their own
safety. We encourage companies to send
their shop employees, safety committee members, safety ambassadors,
supervisors, managers and others to the regular meetings to become
"Educated in Environmental, Health, and Safety Issues". Over the past several years, we have invited
local specialists, Kansas's regulatory agencies, and even Federal agencies to
present on topics of interest to our members. Topics vary, but in general,
programs have come about because of interests or requests of those attending.
Meetings have been in Hesston at AGCO Corporation and Excel Industries. Due to the growth of
our organization, EHS is expanding in 2004! Considerable discussion has taken place about how
to expand to other communities and continue to serve the Hesston Area,
where this valuable Network was first formed. Therefore, Hesston will continue to host monthly meetings as
they have in the past. Hutchinson and
Wichita will begin hosting meetings to accommodate the growing needs of those
areas. Tentatively, meetings will be
held in Hutchinson and Wichita once per quarter. Once their membership grows to support monthly meetings, they
will be expanded to meet those needs.
Our goal is remains simple. We would like to Promote a Cleaner
Environment and a Safer Workplace through training and Education!! We believe that every company can achieve
World Class Safety, if they have Management Commitment and Support and
Employee Involvement!! |
