Course Information

Plan of Study

This plan provides for all instructional components in the Academy. The components of the plan include a minimum of 70% competency in Foundation Business Skills, Administrative Assistant Skills, Worked-based Learning, Customer Service and Sales Skills, Advanced Telecommunications, and the complete Insurance Curriculum. The Basic Business Skills and the Insurance Curriculum Introduction classes will be beneficial to a student looking for an office job as an entry level customer service representative and will give the student an advantage in the insurance office job market. The Plan of Study will be reviewed and revised when curriculum changes become necessary.

Business Core Curriculum

The Business Education program involves instructors who are certified to teach all courses contained within the curriculum for the Core Business Skills. The time to complete this curriculum is varied according to the student's knowledge and skills. Mastery is demonstrated by completing the Core Business State Competency test with a minimum of 70%.

Insurance Curriculum

Insurance Curriculum The Insurance curriculum consists of 100 hours of classroom instruction and significant amounts of lab time and homework assignments in the following courses:

  • Introduction to Property and Casualty
  • Introduction to Life and Health

An additional 50-75 hours for Pre-Licensing curriculum and Seminar will be delivered by a licensed insurance agent. Students are required to pay for their Pre-Licensing.
