My Story:

I've been involved in the R/C Hobby for
over 10 years. Since that time I've owned many R/C cars/trucks from the
famous Sears Lobo II, Kyosho Maxxum, Nitro Brute, Losi's Junior2, Nitro
Hawk, Serpent Impact, Traxxas 4-Tec, Nitro 4-Tec , Ofna Nitro OB4 and a Traxxas Rustler/Stampede.
I also have a large collection of Electric and Nitro R/C boats. Now back
to the topic for this web page. Racing!!! I consider myself a racer on
a budget and tend to modify and replace only those parts that keep me from
finishing a race. I don't believe in converting the car into an aluminum
behemoth as an excuse for not learning how to drive around the track without
making a hole in the wall. I Hope you enjoyed this site as much as I have
enjoyed building it.
My Mission:
Note: Most of the info on this page I've
learned the hard way, some I picked up while exchanging info on the net.
The important things is I don't recommend anything unless I have tried
it myself -folks, I foot the bill for your R&D. You can't get it any
better. Many of the tips are extensions of the common sense rules that
govern the physical world we and our models live in -like Dynamic/Static
concepts et. Most of the things here are common sense oriented. If we only
used more common sense at the track we would spend less money on the shiny
aluminum junk and invest in tires, shock oils, springs and experimenting.
We would all be better and wealthier R/C drivers. My .02
PS: I work as a Mechanical Engineer at
the Research and Development center of a large HVAC Company. My job requires
minute attention to detail in laying out test requirements, analyzing data
and making decisions based on my training and design experience. Many,
if not all of these are also true to the R/C side of me. There is always
a way of making my car easier to drive. That's really the name of the game.
With enough skill anyone can drive the worst setup possible and still come
up front. I'm an average driver so with a superior setup I can prevail
at the track. This really should be your primary focus.
More History:
When I first got into Nitro Touring car
racing my car was "one with the wall" I was struggling to get the car around
the track without re-arranging the track in the process. With a couple
of chassis changes and a tire swap I was already in the middle of the pack.
I've seen many newbies quit because their car was hard to drive, so they
got a digital radio and a "race" engine and a new shinny body... And they
crashed harder. They bought all the graphite this and aluminum that...
and they crashed even harder. A couple of month's latter the not so "shinny"
car had a for sale sign, at the Hobby Shop glass counter. -If only he had
changed the tires.-
Don't let this be you! I hope that the
information on this site has made your car easier to drive. If it has not,
send me an e-mail -maybe I can still help.
Until next time.
Whoop some R/C butt !!!
