Erin Mosher, performing as Echo, has just released her debut solo EP, Teardrop of the Sun. The music is a refreshing mixture of sultry and passionate vocals, blended with jazzy down tempo grooves and a hip hop flare.
Produced by Whittfield Holmes and Jason Kreiger, the music of Echo has been favorably compared to Morcheeba, Portishead, St. Germain, and Bjork.
Echo discovered a passion for music and theatre at a very young age. The need to express herself artistically eventually led to a BA degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis on music. On various occasions, she has had the opportunity to perform at the Hollywood Bowl with Broadway stars such as Patti LuPone, Rebecca Luker, and Lesley Garrett.
Since moving to Chicago in 1998, Echo has been a featured vocalist on three other musical projects.
The first of them was Left Orbit Temple‘s experimental multimedia debut Prolusion, on which Echo wove airy and mystical vocal tones into her challenging melodies. The next CD project was Baltazar‘s Soundscapes , where Echo accompanied tribal flutes with ethnic vocals and chants. The third project was a compilation of singers from Voltaire‘s Cabaret Club entitled Life Is A Cabaret. Here, Echo performed some traditional songs from the musical theatre genre, which brought her back to the roots of her singing career.
Echo is currently working on two new recording projects (including more work with Left Orbit Temple and a project with Die Warzau's Vandy Christie and DJ Redlox), as well as developing a band to promote her Teardrop of the Sun CD in a live environment. She hopes that her music will open minds, hearts, and the doors of perception.
