Occasionally in life comes a television show so great that you stop whatever important work you were doing to plop lazily into the well-worn butt-groove in front of the marshmallow tube and waste away your half-hour. And we figure no television show on the planet could ever be worth such sacrifice as the Simpsons. The most brilliantly conceived idea of the nineties, this show deals in a cynical way with the norms of American life and is often more realistic than not. We leasrned a lot about American culture from this show, and upon coming to America, found the most of it to be quite truthful, yet humorous and entertaining in a way no documentary could be.
The Simpsons, for those who don't know, is an animated sitcom parody of American life at its fullest. Without using lewd humor or overly-explicit sexual content (in case you mothers were wondering) it touches on various aspects of everyday life, pointing fun at everyone and everything in a tasteful manner. It's accessible to all walks of life and its jokes are also accessible to all ages, dealing with universal ideas like blue-collar work, school, music, religion, and the like. If you haven't seen it, we really suggest you do. The main characters are the Simpsons, of course, Homer, Marge, and their three children Bart, Lisa and Maggie
There are Simpsons pages out there like no tomorrow. Below we give you a couple of our favorites, since making character bios and detailed information is quite difficult and time-consuming, something we just can't get around to on a site that isn't based around the Simpsons. The first few links, however, are bits of information we do have on this site.
