Upon reaching that new destination, hotter, more humid or steeper than anything I've ever seen before, I eventually track down a book exchange of some sort, the kind that posts a hand-inscribed note on the bookshelf saying: 'Take one, leave one behind.'

There, inside the cover, you may find the book's own travel log written in several scripts. 'This book has been to...' stands at the top and each of the book's travelling companions has penned the cities and regions it has travelled through.

You can read the beginning and end points passed before coming to rest at the book exchange nook where you pick it up. It is an invitation waiting for a new journey to begin.
