We made it!

Hey Everybody! now that we're back on-line we thought we'd throw up some pictures for all of you to see of our new place and surroundings... In the interest of slow loading times, I've tried to keep the thumbnail images small, just click on them for the bigger version:

As soon as he got in the flat and out of his little cage, Lyr, our million dollar cat, greatly enjoyed lounging about and claiming new space:

But he's not the only one who enjoyed respite after the hectic journey...

This is the street we live on, the first picture looks up it, that's our house on the left. The second picture is looking down from the other direction, quite a bit further up the street:

The outside of our building is really tough to get a picture of, because it has a stone wall and lots of trees around it, but here are some pictures of the outside of our house. The first two are from the same angle, one is across the street and one is from within the yard. Our flat is the corner that you're looking at. The small window next to the main door is our kitchen window, and the beginnings of the bay window that is far left in the second picture is the window in our library/living room. The third picture is from the other way (there are primroses blooming!) and our place is the furthest two windows.

Some pictures of the area around where we live...

We've been doing a lot of wandering, exploring Sheffield, and one day decided to head northward and at the end of one street found ourselves in a nice park at the edge of a steep hill overlooking, across a deep valley, some of the suburbs of Sheffield, and (consulting the map when we got home) the picture on the left is of the Loxley river valley (as in Robin of Loxley from the Robin Hood legends)

Since we were still getting set up, Phil's birthday was a relatively quiet event, we went out for a romantic dinner at a little italian restaurant and came home for cake and presents. Here are some pictures of him eating cake and opening his present (I got him a bunch of little plastic collectible figurines of comic book characters called Heroclix, which, as you can see, I don't think he expected to get... J)
