Sophia's Growth and Development
- On December 9, 2004:
Sophia went for her first visit to Dr. Rubin. Her weight was up almost 1 pound to 8.8 lbs and she gained half an inch in length to 21 inches. She is doing great and he plans on seeing her again in late January for a round of vaccinations. OUCH!!!
- On December 25, 2004:
Sophia smiled for the first time!!! She also is starting to track objects for longer than a few seconds and she is turning her head when momma or papa is talking.
- December 29, 2004:
Sophie is now a month old and beginning to smile all the time. Developmentally she is right on target and nutritionally the same: gaining weight perfectly. Her hair growth has officially surpassed her father's and she continues to provide joy and pride to her family.
- January 20, 2005:
This morning the home health nurse came by to give Sophia a check up! She currently weighs 11.8 lbs. The nurse said that Sophia is a very happy baby and looks great!! A side note about the visit: Sophia's feet hung off the scale... She is so long!!!!! Sophia's next check up will be at Dr. Rubin's office; no more home visits!!!

January 28, 2005:
This morning Sophia and I made our way to Dr. Rubin's office. She currently weighs 11.12 lbs and is 23 inches long. She received her first round of vaccinations and was not happy to say the least. (Not only did she cry, but I (Clarissa) cried with her). Later that day, she began to run a fever of 101.2. She started to feel better a few days later... Overall, today was a sad day for Sophia and her parents.

February 25, 2005:
Sophia's first trip on an airplane to good ole Tennessee, and she was an angel! I was so proud of her! She did not cry once on the plane. However, this was the trip she developed her love for Binky. She now knows what it is for and she is not backing down!
- March 5, 2005:
Sophia is growing like a weed in the Tennessee backwoods. Eric and I are guessing that she weighs around 13-14 pounds!!! She is getting huge! Today Eric made the comment that she is growing up so fast. We were watching her sit in her vibrating chair while hitting and grabbing at her toys. It seems like just a few days ago she had no clue what to do with those strange dangling objects, but she sure does now!!

St. Patrick's Day
Milestone Day!
This morning we were all hanging out in bed while Sophia was enduring tummy time. Today was out of sorts because it snowed two inches and was freezing cold. Anyway, out of nowhere Sophia pushed up on one arm and rolled over like a pro!!! To
test her abilities Eric and I placed her on the floor (with the handy cam ready) and waited... Within seconds she rolling over like it was old hat. We are so proud of her. She finally rolled over! GREAT JOB SOPHIA!!!
- March 31, 2005:
We just told Sophia she has to go back to Dr. Rubin...
Today Sophia went to Dr. Rubin’s for a check up and a round of vaccinations. The check up went great. She presently weighs and even 14 lbs and is 25 inches long. Her head is in the 92 percentile, however, her body is in the 70th. Dr. Rubin said she is ready for rice cereal. We plan to start in once or kitchen is finished… if that ever happens… The vaccinations did not go as well. Oh boy did she cry! Eric held her this time around while I waited. All three of us were heart broken by the end of the visit.
Five Hours later…
Sophia temperature rose to a shocking 103.4. We all were scared and made a phone call to Dr. Rubin’s office. He suggested we stripe her down and continue to give Tylenol drops regular and to call if it gets any higher.
Three hours later..
Sophia fever was down to 101.2 and we were so happy.
- April 1, 2005:
Sophia is almost back to normal after a long night. Her fever is down to 99.2 and she seems much happier. We will keep you posted.
