Anakli and Dath

You enter yet another weyr. The dragon couch is large and well-shaped, and right in the middle of it is a small blue dragon, sound asleep. You don't see anyone else around. Then the curtain over the bed-room door moves, and a young man emerges. He has curly brown hair and hazel eyes, and he is carrying large silver platter with a few rements of meat on it. He glances at the sleeping dragon and begins to tiptoe towards you and the door.

Suddenly he sees you. He jumps, and the platter falls to the ground with a resounding clang that shimmers into silence. The little blue twitches, opens his eyes and rolls to look over his shoulder.

Seeing it, the boy sighs ruefully. He walks over to an open shaft in the wall, and yells down it, "More meat, please!" Then he walks over to you and holds out his hand. "Hi! My name is Anakli, and this is my dragon, Dath," he points to the small blue, who has trundled over and is now butting Anakli's legs.

"Sorry to scare you like that," you appologizes.

"It's okay. My own fault. The weyrleaders told me to expect a lot of visitors," replies Anakli with a shrug. With a muted grinding roar the shaft produces another platter full of meat scraps. "Ah, and there is Dath's dinner. Please excuse me."

Anakli retrieves the platter and kneels down beside Dath. You decide to take the hint and leave the pair alone.

A while later...

He turns and drops back into normal draconic possision as he notices you. Anakli, oblivious to your presence, contines working on whatever it is he's doing. After a moment, Dath nudges him in the shoulder. "Huh, oh!" he says. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

"That's alright," you say. "So, what are you doing that's so interesting?"

"Ah, it's nothing," replies Anakli. He begins manouvering to hide his work. Thoroughly curious now, you take a quick side-step and look down at it. You try not to laugh at what you see. Ankali is writting lines..."I will not buzz cotholders with my dragon. I will not buzz cotholders with my dragon. I will not..."

"Hum, well, ah, I'd better leave you to it," you say.

Later...

And a magnificient one he is, too. "Hello!" you call out, as you step inside. "Hello!" the reply comes floating towards you from the back. You quickly make your way back there, where you find Anakli oiling his riding harness. He looks up as you approach. "Well, well, long time no see!"

You smile. "Yes, it has been awhile. Dath has certainly grown since I saw him last."

Anakli grins. "Yup, we're a full-fledged part of the weyr now!"
