I am somehow very fascinated by people of mixed descent, especially half caucausian and Asian. I myself am 100% Chinese, but for some reason people always think I'm half white or south American. (It is really strange but some people think I'm Brazilian!) I think I do look Chinese but more "Chinese-American" because I grew up in California (Los Angeles). I think that Asian kids who grow up in North America tend to be taller, bigger, etc because of the food that we eat. I believe that in this ever becoming intolerant world, it is people like you who will be ambassadors of friendship and understanding between cultures. I can understand how at times it can be hard to gain acceptance in a particular society - as one Filipino-American once commented "When I was in the States, I was always known as the Filipina. Now that I am in the Philippines, I am known as an American.". But I think that you have adopted ok! I could not help but smile when I read about your Asian experiences. Yes, some of us can be crude (and maybe rude) at times. I do believe that our fascination for Eurasians are very much inter-twined with our colonial past. Not only is this apparent in what we deem as beautiful, but also in our choice of products. Anything that is imported is seen as more superior in quality. While this is not necessarily true, this again is unfortunately ingrained in our culture.
