We first get introduced when Murphy is examining his dog, Spike, after having discovered burns or bloodmarks on the dog's head. Later, he is assigned to clean a vent shaft. Murphy discovers the shedded skin of the burster and encounters the juvenile alien, mistaking it for being Spike, who has been missing for a couple of hours. As a juvenile alien, it ain't big enough to kill Murphy and spits acid in his face. Murphy is surprised and shocked by the pain and retreats - towards the fan!
