Recently has been launched
in Melbourne the book Over
the Horizon, a compilation of Spanish poetry written by Australian
residents put together by the author Silvia Cuevas Morales, resident of
Melbourne, Australia. The publication of the book was scheduled for
1st of August, 1998.
Two members of the Western Australia Community has made their contribute to this important work of the Latin American people in Australia. These poets are: Mrs. Olga Dalin from Peru who present 3 poems: Reminiscences, Devenir y Eternidad or Piedra. Dennis Castillo de Chile with Patria de Adopcion y Australia. Patria de Adopcion had already obtained a recognition in a Literary Competition in 1986, in NSW According to the author Over the Horizon, Miss Silvia Cueva, "this work represents the chance for 27 poets in Australia to share feelings and experiences, the problems of displacement and uprooting and the learning involved in adapting to a new reality". |

- A Latin American Visual Extravaganza
An visual art exhibition covering, painting, photography, metallic sculpture and craft, vividly experiences, feelings, traditions and passion of Latin America culture.
In this occasion" The Spirit of Carnival Award" is presented to the Senior High School Students of WA for the best photography. Senior Award

Mrs.
Eliana Miranda, founder president of the Senior Spanish Speaking Association
of WA, has been invited to the ceremony WA 1998 Senior Award
in Lord Forest Hotel in Bunbury. She was selected for the Nomination of
the Award in WA for her valuable volunteer work developed with the senior
citizen of the Latin American Community.
The Senior Spanish Speaking Association Inc.of WA was founded on the 2nd of April of 1996 and legally incorporated in June, 1996. The mission of the organisation is to promote the welfare of people over 55 years of age in the Spanish-speaking community, and ensure their participation in it, and integration within the Australian society. If you are interested to join the Association, please call Mrs. Miranda at (08) 9220 0644 until 12.00 pm. The office of the organisation is located in the Lottery House 175 Stirling Street in Perth. |
