Leviathan groaned once and heavily crashed to the floor. Ice crystals sprayed up everywhere, saturating the air. A low rumbling, cracking sound reverberated through the cavern as thin, nearly unnoticeable fissures began appearing in the ice sheet. Watching my faithful Gyarados fall in battle was the final straw. I suddenly became hyper-aware of my surroundings and environment as I realized my last option. I ran full-sprint over to Leviathan and recalled it into its Ultra Ball. I stared cruelly into Articuno's black eyes, the eyes of the creature I loved so much. Staggering forward, feeling beaten and broken, I tapped the release mechanism for my last Pokeball. The blue Great Ball dropped into my hand and I felt its smooth surface and two black crests. I wiped a bead of sweat...SWEAT, even in this frigid chamber, off my face and felt my breath coming in short, ragged gasps. I wasn't afraid of Articuno anymore. It was what's inside this Great Ball that disturbed me....
Looking at the ball one last time, confirming my decision, I hurled it near Articuno. The ball hesistated a moment before activating, but opened in a violent burst of laser light. A dark shadow materialized in the cavern. It slowly took form...the form of my Gengar, Matariel. Matariel stared at me through what you could call its eyes and grinned insidiously. I fought a wave of panic, but it wasn't really my Gengar that scared me. It's...

"Neil, this is not good!" Hunter shouted at me. "The floor is breaking apart!" It was true. Chunks of ice at random intervals in the floor were rapidly and systematically disappearing. The ground beneath our feet could go any second. We had to act now. "Matariel!" I commanded. "Use your Hypnosis attack! Put it to sleep!" Matariel began to unnaturally glow, bathed in a strange aura. My Gengar flicked its arms and claws forward and back, then space looked almost as if it had been distorted. The air was rippling and roiling, like heat over a flame. The psychic wave was aimed directly at Articuno.
