Leviathan is over twenty feet of pure destructive force. Commonly classified as an "Atrocious Pokemon," Gyarados has earned its reputation. Grown men quake when they hear its name, and yet it is my most trusted, reliable Pokemon. I watched as its slick, sinewy body maneuvered into position to strike. Out of water, it behaved like a snake, rearing up and striking fiercely. I just prayed that Gyarados would be strong enough to defeat Articuno, even though its half Flying type designation would give the bird a BIG advantage...

"Leviathan!" I shouted into my malfunctioning microphone. "Hyper Beam, now!!!!" Leviathan began glowing with energy even before it raised up to attack. The monster opened its enormous mouth, full of teeth capable of tearing apart a whale, and shrieked that horrible cry once more before it unleashed a blast of white-hot energy. It struck Articuno directly and hurled it backwards toward the crystalline wall.

Articuno began plummeting to the cavern floor, trailing long flight feathers. "All right, you did it!" I exclaimed, overjoyed. "You-- oh, no." I cut myself off as I watched Articuno complete a miraculous recovery, barrel rolling before hitting the ground and now speeding directly at Leviathan. "You've got to recharge..." I whispered into the microphone. Leviathan remained motionless, still weak from using the Hyper Beam, as Articuno slowed its approach and attacked. The enraged, majestic bird used its own Blizzard attack and defeated my Gyarados with painful shards of ice from its powerful wings. The waves of ethereal ice mercilessly pounded the Leviathan's body until it could take no more.

Gyarados started falling to the floor.
