I scraped across the rough floor deeper into the crevasse until I heard Hunter exclaim, "Hey guys, check this out!" I ran over as fast as I could without killing myself, because I knew this had to be important. Hunter doesn't get excited easily. They don't say he's got a personality of stone just because he's from Pewter... I finally reached Hunter, but Tech was already there shining his bright flashlight beam on the rough wall. My light shone off the deep blue in my combat gear, casting a pale glow on the wall. The effect was eerie, but not nearly as much as what I saw next.

"What in the hell...?" I asked myself. Carved into the wall at about shoulder height was an ancient glyph, identical to the one I saw in my Pokedex. It had been chiseled into the wall obviously hundreds of years ago, but there was no evidence that anyone had EVER been able to survive for long in the Seafoam Islands, even with therma-gear. My fears became far worse as I cast my gaze downward at what held Tech's attention. The pale blue light reflected dully off a smooth, yet cracked human skull at our feet. As we cast the flashlight beam around the tunnel, we saw other bones, most of the rest of the skeleton, strewn randomly about. OH CRAP, I'm sure we were all thinking. What was even more disturbing was the appearance of the skull. It looked crushed, but as though it had been done from the...inside. The only, terrifying scenario that kept playing through my head was that SOMETHING...I knew all too well what had done it...had frozen this man's brain, expanding it and rupturing his skull. I shuddered at the thought, and not just from the cold chill that ominously swept through us. "Hey guys...," I started, but Hunter cut me off.

"Wait, did you hear that?" he asked. A low, almost imperceptible rumbling echoed through the walls, the floor, the ceiling. I was about to respond when the sound roared and resonated in our ears, as THE FLOOR BEGAN COLLAPSING! We scrambled for a handhold, a foothold, ANYTHING as we plummeted into a widening, ragged hole in the cavern floor.

When the falling and the screaming stopped, we were lying twisted on an unbearably cold surface, tangled amidst chunks of rock and shards of bone. I head Tech complain from somewhere nearby, "Ow. I think I broke my spleen..." Hunter weakly laughed from somewhere farther off. I fumbled around for my flashlight and felt that something was VERY wrong with the floor. I switched on the beam and trained it around me, realizing in shock what was awry. We had fallen directly into an ice tunnel! The tunnel was irregularly shaped and sloped toward the left, so most of the large rocks fell toward the slant, away from us. The flashlight played off the slick, rippled walls and cast a deep blue glow over everything. I stood up and felt a sharp pain in my knees, but managed to help up Tech and Hunter. While we gathered up the mostly smashed equipment, I began to hypothesize about what just happened. All the ice from the tunnel must have leeched into the rock above, creating those fissures and weakening the whole structure. When we all stood in one place at the skull and the glyph, it must have put too much stress on the floor, collapsing it. I shone my light ahead of us into the tunnel, but couldn't see clearly what was at the end. Signaling for the guys to follow me, I trudged forward.
