History of Soccer

The game known as Soccer, originated in England and it is reffered to as football. In the 14th century there was a game created but it wasn't soccer as it is now today. The game played centuries ago was known as "mob football" and it was basicly violent street fights. The ball used during the game was made of raw material; anything they could find to use. The playing field was the area of the town. The number of players totalled to as many as 500 people. The time length of the game was all day long. During the games, windows and legs were broken and some deaths resulted. This folk game had a spontenious growth and incresed in popularity.

The Church disliked the game from the start, they thought it took away time from Christian responsibilities. The nobles, which employed the masses who played the game, also disliked the game. They believed profitable time was being wasted. The Church and the nobles made efforts to demolish the game from the masses. But failed. Others such as mayors, sheriffs, and clerks tried to outlaw it, but failed miserable too. The game could not be stopped and was becoming part of the English culture.
