The World Cup Tournament


1930

Thirteen nations competed in the first ever World Cup in Uruguay. Only five European countries made the Atlantic sea voyage. The final was won by the host, Uruguay, beating Argentina 4-2.


1934

Italy was the host of the 2nd World Cup and the winner. Italy beat Czecheslovakia 2-1 in the final. The Fascist ruler used Soccer to promote their ideologies and winning the World Soccer Championship proved their superiority in the the sport.


1938

Italy retained the title in Paris, France against Hungary, beating them 4-2 in the final.


12 years game suspension

World War ll stopped Tournaments from being held.


1950

The tournament was reopened and was held in Brazil, where Uruguay won the Championship. They beat Brazil 2-1 dissapointing 200,000 Brazilian supporters.
