The History of the World Cup

In 1896, Baron Pierre De Coubertin reactivated the Olympic Games and believed the Olympics could host the world championships of many sports. The World Cup tournament originated from the Olympic games. On March 21, 1904, FIFA was created in France. FIFA is Soccer's world govening body, the International Federation of the Soccer Association. The 1908 Olympic tournament was organized by Daniel Woolfall on their behalf. But FIFA tryed to set up an international tourney of its own. On March 1st 1921, FIFA's 3rd presidebt Jules Rimet, intensely motivated by the success of the 1920 Olympic Soccer tournament in Belgium, began seriously to consider trying again. He successeded in accomplishing his dreams in 1930 the World Cup had its birth. FIFA used its opportunity, the Olympic tournament cancelled its 1928 Soccer tournament because the host nation, USA wasn't entangled in the sports popularity as the rest of the world was. The Olympic Games still host Soccer world championships, but the World Cup is considered the highest ability of players. In honor of the 3rd FIFA president the World Cup trophy was named the Jules Rimet trophy.
