“Room 304,” replied Geek as Lance raced off again, leaving Joey, Justin and Chris waiting with Geek in the waiting room.
“Baby?” asked Lance quietly as he pushed open the door to room 304 and discovered his husband sitting in a chair next to Stacy, who was in the hospital bed.
“Hey,” smiled Josh as he stood up and wrapped Lance in a hug. “The doctor was in here a minute ago to check on Stacy, she’s doing good.”
“Good!” screamed Stacy from the bed. “I’m in pain here and you think I’m doing good! I was fucking nuts to do this for you guys!”
“Isn’t there something the doctor can give her to stop the pain?” whispered Lance to his husband.
“Not for a few more hours,” whispered back Josh. “I’m debating on whether or not to send Geek out for earplugs.”
“He wouldn’t go,” informed Lance. “He’d think we’re shutting him out despite the fact that it’ll be hours before the actual birth. Maybe we could send Justin and Chris out though. I’d hate for Justin to spend his first day as a Shepherd in the waiting room of a hospital.”
“Justin’s here?!”
“The paper work came through this morning and now him and Chris are married.”
“Will you two shut up!” yelled Stacy. “I’m over here in pain and you two are chit-chatting!”
“I think I’ll go say hi to Justin,” Josh informed Lance before ducking out the door leaving him alone with his sister. Sighing Lance walked over and sat down in the chair that Josh had been sitting in when Lance had walked into the room.
“I’m going to kill you and your husband!”
“Come on Stacy you don’t mean that! In a few hours it’ll all be over!”
“It better be!”
*~*~*
“Justin!” cried Josh as he walked towards the waiting room and saw his friend.
“Hey man!” called Justin, rushing over and hugging his friend. “Why aren’t you in with Lance and his sister?”
“Stacy is going nuts,” explained Josh. “And the baby won’t be delivered for another few hours so I figured Lance could have the pleasure of staying with her while I took a break.”
“Only a few more hours of freedom left huh?” asked Joey. “I’m surprised you and Lance aren’t holed up somewhere in a closet making out while you wait, because from here on the baby comes first.”
“We know that. But we also realize that the little Bass baby has some great uncles that would love to baby-sit anytime.”
“You’re going to trust Chris with a kid?” laughed Justin. “That’s a good one!”
“I’m getting a divorce!” cried Chris as he tackled Justin to the ground and started tickling him.
“I think I’ll remove Chris and Justin’s names from the list,” Josh said to Joey as he watched his two friends with amusement.
“Good call,” laughed Joey.
*~*~*
“I love you guys!” declared Stacy to Lance and Josh hours later after she had been given drugs to ease the pain. “Say the word and I’ll do it all over again!”
“Two hours ago she was ready to kill us,” murmured Lance to Josh as they stood next to Stacy’s bed.
“Let’s just hope the drugs hold out until the baby is bore,” whispered back Josh.
A few minutes after Josh said those words, the doctor arrived in the room for another checkup of Stacy.
“Well,” informed the doctor giving them all a smile. “It’s a good thing I came in when I did because this baby is about ready to come out.”
“Did you hear that Lance?!” cried Josh excitedly. “We’re about to become fathers!”
Lance however barely heard his husband as his eyes rolled back into his head and he dropped to the floor.
*~*~*
“Sweetie wake up!” begged Josh as he bent over Lance who was now lying in a hospital bed. When he fainted, Lance had suffered a minor concussion, but the doctors expected he wouldn’t have to spend the night in the hospital.
“Huh?” asked Lance as he opened his eyes to find Josh staring down at him with a worried look on his face. “What happened? The last thing I remembered was the doctor saying that the baby was about ready to come.”
“You fainted,” explained Josh.
“How’s Stacy?”
“She’s fine,” reassured Josh. “She’s resting in another room. Right now though there’s someone who wants to meet you.”
“Who?”
“Your daughter,” smiled Josh before disappearing from Lance’s line of sight for a minute before returning with a small bundle in his arms.
“She’s beautiful,” whispered Lance as he sat up so that he could hang onto her.
“Just like you.”
“Have you decided on what to call her?”
“I was thinking about just going with Christina Josephine Bass,” suggested Josh. “I think she looks like a Christina and I think with anything in front of that her name would be too long.”
“I like that,” grinned Lance. “Have you shown her to the guys yet?”
“Nope,” smiled Josh as he ran his hand through Lance’s hair. “I wanted you to be the first since you couldn’t be in there with Stacy and I.”
“Thank you,” whispered Lance as Josh bended down and placed a kiss on Lance’s lips.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
