Once a girl reaches
the age of seven she can become a Brownie Guide. However she must be will
to make the Brownie promise and to know what it means.
All the Brownies belong to a pack but they also work in small groups
called Sixes (with approximately 6 girls in each) This is lead by one of
the older more experienced Brownies called a sixer. One of her
responsibilities is to look after new Brownies and explain what is
happening.
Brownies meet once a week on a Tuesday evening for 1 hour and 1/2.
These meetings cover a wide range of activities and often include
suggestions from the Brownies
Though out their time at Brownies, girls have the opportunity to earn
badges for meeting challenges to the best of their ability as well as for
demonstrating ability in a wide range of hobbies and interests.
Occasionally there are activities arranged during the school holidays
or at weekends, which may be more adventurous or more suitable to the
daytime such as our yearly fund raising bazaar.
All Brownies wear a uniform chosen from a wide selection including
sweatshirts, sashes and baseball caps that are available at the meetings
or from Guide shops.
