Long ago, when the Namek planet's climate turned, nearly killing their race, survivors were few. Some fled, while Guru stayed behind and fathered a new face of Nameks. Everyone that was on Namek when the heroes arrived was a son of Guru. Guru's position is similar to Kami's, but on Namek. The Namek dragonballs are linked to Guru's existence; if he dies, so do the dragonballs. Guru does die just before the dragon can grant Vegeta's wish for immortality, leaving Vegteta and the gang in trouble with an angry Frieza. |
