Rock Island Inc. 155mm Heavy Field Gun

The 155mm Field Gun is the standard size and configuration field weapon for both the Alliance and the Axis. The 155mm has been in production for over a half century and it has yet to show its age. While the manufacturing techniques have improved, the basic configuration has not changed in 50 years. The gun is mounted on a wheeled or tracked platform that is towed by a medium or heavy vehicle, when placed several support feet are lowered and anchored into place. The 155mm can fire a variety of weapons from standard high explosives to sensor deployment projectiles. However, its basic operation is simply that of a large bore single gun, able to deliver devastating volleys of explosive into an area with deadly accuracy, that accuracy can be further refined by the use of a forward observer who relays targeting information back to the weapons crew. The 155mm uses a crew of 5, a Field Gunner (equal to a commander), two Gunners Mate’s who load the weapon, and Ordinance Specialist who calculates the weapons yield and trajectory and a Targeting Coordinator who fires the weapon and adjusts the weapons position.
