Hey what's up Ivan. Thanks for giving me questions for an interview. Just so you know, I am Matt Doreson and I play guitar and sing backup vocals for my band Cerebral Hemorrhage. Well...here it goes.....

First tell us little about history of your band, from what country are you, and discography: We are a death metal band from Long Island/Queens, New York (USA). We try to mix al breeds of death metal to keep it interesting. Our band first began in late 1997. I saw an add on the wall in a local underground music store for a drummer. At this point I've been looking to start a band for a couple of years, so you can imagine how happy I was to see a drummer looking for a band. Anyway, we got together and started writing songs...it was going good but we didn't find a singer or bassist for over 6 months, so that was frustrating. At certain points in time, we were considering stopping because we were tired of just playing with only 2 people. Finally, I talked to someone that would want to sing for us. I knew who he was cause he was singing in a band called Amid Pain at the time. But those guys were taking time off so he agreed to come down to practice.A week or 2 later, he brought a bassist he had met at a show down to practice. And so we finally had a full lineup. After recording our demo about 6 months after getting the lineup....we were running into problems. Allot of friction between the bassist (Jason Kolodny) and the rest of the band Finally, he left the band cause of all the problems. Right after he left, we got another bassist named Mike Grabowski, who played bass in a hardcore band called As They Die (they broke up). Matt Szablewicz (vocals), Tom Kivitinos (drums), andmyself were happy with the change. We thought it was gonna be good for a long time. But about 2 months and only 2 shows later, we saw that Mike's head wasn't in the right place. For over 2 months we haven't heard from him unless we tracked him down. After a barrage of excuses, we just decided to drop him from the band. And through friends who know him, I found out that he lost all interest in playing. As of now we are looking for a bassist and 2nd guitarist (we're real close to getting a 2nd guitar).

1.Who are the band members: As of now, the band members are:
Matt Szablewicz- Vocals
Matt Doreson- Guitar, backing vocals
Tom Kivitinos- Drums

2.How did you got your name and what does it means:
Cerebral Hemorrhage was actually supposed to be a song name. At first, our name was actually Putresence. But after Matt (vocals) and Jay (x-bass)heard the song title Cerebral Hemorrhage, they liked that as a band name. Shortly, Tom (drums) agreed to use it as a band name. At first I didn't want it as a name, but since the majority of the band did, I went with it. The name really has no meaning. They just liked the way it sounded.

3.What music style do you play and compare it to some similar bands:
To be honest, I don't think we follow a specific style of death metal. Allot of bands from New York are slam oriented. We chose not to be all slam because nobody needs to hear a clone of the other bands. Don't get me wrong, I love the bands around here. Internal Bleeding, Disfigured, Dehumanized, Entorturement, Pyrexia...just to name a few local bands. But if we sounded like all those bands....who'd want to hear us. We definitely have influences of those bands I just mentioned though. Also we have influences from Malevolent Creation, to an extent we have influences from Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Cryptopsy, Pyrexia, Amorphis...just to name a few.

4.Some of your favorite groups:
Hmm...favorite groups...Black Sabbath, Internal Bleeding, Suffocation, Pyrexia, Skinless, Malignancy, OLD Megadeth, OLD Metallica, Iron Maiden, OLD Van Halen, Exodus, OLD Entombed, Gorguts, Immortal Suffering (rip), OLD Fear Factory, Cryptopsy, Disfigured, Malevolent Creation, Lividity, and allot more heavy death metal bands. I also get into SOME more commercial bands..SOME, like Alice In Chains. And I like some 80s metal like Ratt, Autograph, some Warrant, some Winger...stuff like that too. Mostly heavy bands but I like all different types of music.

5.Your opinion about underground and commercial music scene:
Well in my opinion, I love the underground scene, but wish it was stronger. It seems like pulling teeth just to get noticed nowadays. The thing I like about shows though is that you are always with friends whenever you go to a show. I love the music in the underground and wish it would get more recognition. I don't like the commercial scene. All the bands sound the same and the majority of the music is so simple and easy. it bothers me that limited talent gets all the airplay and make all the money, meanwhile, people in the underground that play their asses off and are all extremely talented, have to bust their asses to keep their band going money wise, and have to work their asses off just to be able to play rent and pay bills and shit. Those commercial bands are rich and have a free ride, even though they aren't half as talented.

6.What was the biggest success of your band:
Well, being that we haven't been able to play a whole lot of shows due to band member changes, I'd say our biggest success was our last show we just played (Oct 10th). Pessemist was the main band, but they had to go on early since it was a Sunday night. They had to drive about 4 hours to get home (they are from Maryland) so they had to be done by 10. So we wound up playing last. #1. the fact that allot of people stayed was cool. #2. We got the biggest pit out of all the shows we played so far...and #3 the main reason why this was a HUGE success for us, is that we played without a bassist. Mike had just been thrown out and there was nobody to play....so we just said "fuck it...we're gonna play anyway." And the show went great.

7.How many concerts did you played and by your opinion what was the best:
We played 7 shows so far, and as I said in my last answer, our last one with Pessemist was the best .

8.The favorite song you made and why:
Favorite song.....I don't know to be honest with you. I guess our newest song, Abusive Power is one of my favorites. Mainly because its the most complicated and difficult to play. I think that song shows more of what we can do, and all songs from now on are gonna be more complicated and difficult. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be a show off, but I don't want to play simple songs either.

9.Those you local metal fans support you:
I don't quite understand that question......

10.Do you think that underground music need more attention of media and what is your opinion about big music televisions and radio stations(such as MTV,Viva.....):
I think the underground scene needs WAY more attention and coverage than its getting now. As I said before, there is so much talent here that goes unnoticed for stupid reasons like "The vocals are too loud and distorted." I hate MTV for taking off the only metal show they had (Headbangers Ball). They took it off in favor of alternative music. Commercial Radio sucks too.All those songs are shit and they sound the same. Occasionally you will hear a good song on the radio. They play some Old Metallica, Old Van Halen, and older Alice In Chains sometimes so that's cool. College radio is cool. You will hear allot of heavy music and you can somewhat keep up with the underground scene through college radio. BUT, the problem with college radio is now they are trying to gain a bigger audience and more commercial audience...so now you have to listen at certain times to hear good music cause commercial shit like Korn is on all day now.

11.The plans for the future:
Well, first and foremost, we are looking for a new bassist, and a 2nd guitarist. But as we look, we are writing new songs. After a couple of more songs, we plan to record our 2nd demo which should crush our 1st demo easily.

12.Say something for the end:
1st off, thank you for the interview. I really appreciate this. Despite the fact we are looking for band members right now, Cerebral Hemorrhage is still writing new, better songs, and we plan to record a new demo soon. Once we get everything on track we are gonna start to play allot of out of state shows. Thanks again for the interview.....until the next time...........
