VORACIOUS GANGRENE

My address:
St?ane MORILLON
40 Rue Fr?
33000 Bordeaux
France

1.Who are the band members:
The line-up consists of Patrick and Jessy on the guitars, Alain on the bass guitar, St?as drummer and myself, St? as vocalist.

2.How did you got your name and what does it means:
When I was asked to join the band, there was no name. We wanted a brutal name. Many were proposed and finally, we chose VORACIOUS GANGRENE. What does it mean? It just means what it says. I don't know how to explain that, it's just a name: VORACIOUS GANGRENE.

3.What music style do you play and compare it to some similar bands:
We play ultra brutal death metal. We are influenced mostly by American underground bands like DYING FETUS, FLESHGRIND, but also by other brutal ones such as CRYPTOPSY, DERANGED and many others.

4.Some of your favorite groups:
ha ha ha... I just named them in the previous question. As I said, we like
DYING FETUS, CRYPTOPSY, FLESHGRIND, DERANGED, YATTERING, DEEDS OF FLESH,
DEPRAVED, CANNIBAL CORPSE, SUFFOCATION, SINISTER, DEADEN, etc... I can't name
all, they are too numberous. Also, one of our guitarist and our drummer love
some black metal ones, but to name their faves, you should ask to themselves.

5.Your opinion about underground and commercial music scene:
The underground scene is the true one. All the best bands are among the
underground ones, because they really play what they want. They have not any
obligation by their labels and just play music they feel. The commercial
scene is mostly done by black metal bands, just here more to show a stupid
attitude than to play music.

6.What was the biggest success of your band:
We haven't lived enough for me to answer this question. We've just been here
for 1 year and a half. I can say that our shows and the mini CD receive a
great response from people.

7.How many concerts did you played and by your opinion what was the best:
We only played two gigs. The first one was with French bands CLAMOR and KRUCIFER. It was in Bordeaux. That was a good show. Then we played a second gig in Limoges in the Center of France with MARDUK, ANGEL CORPSE, ENTHRONED, EXECUTION, BEAUTY OF DESOLATION. We played only 20 minutes, but we had great conditions and a great sound. The response from the crowd was quite good.

8.The favorite song you made and why:
I think my fave song is "Random gun carnage". I don't know why, this is just a question of taste.

9.Where you on some local radio show (or something like that):
I don't understand your question, I'm sorry. We have two local radio shows in Bordeaux which broadcast death metal. We have not visited them, yet. I must say they have not invited us either. Well, nothing to add on the radio shows.

10.Do you think that underground music need more attention of media and what is your opinion about big music televisions and radio stations(such as MTV,Viva.....):
I'm not interested in music broadcasted on big TV or radio show, because they broadcast only commercial music. I don't know if underground music needs more attention. If there was more attention, it wouldn't be underground any longer. I think we need more attention from underground labels, zines, etc... But even them seem to be more interested in commercial trend.

11.Do you have support of local metal fans:
Yes, of course. We are the only death metal band in Bordeaux. So, we have a great support from our local fans. They come to our gigs, they show some interest when we play elsewhere. They try to keep informed about our plans and that's great.

12.Plans for the future:
We want to play as much as possible to promote our self-produced 5 song CD "Hooked to death". We also look for a label which could be interested in us for our future releases. For the moment, we are writing news songs and we are promoting our release.

13.Say something for the end:
An usual answer for an usual last question: thanx for the interview and for showing interest in VORACIOUS GANGRENE. Our 5 song CD is available for $8 postpaid. KEEP UT SICK... KEEP IT BRUTAL...
