Stargazer

1.Tell us when did your band start playing, who formed the band and why?
1.The temple was officially consecrated early 1995. A resultant hybrid, borne of the embers of an earlier band. The Serpent Inquisitor (guitar/vocals/apocrypha) and Pale Brethren (drums/vocals) decided upon the name, concept, conception and musical geometric. Why? We wished for a freshened focus that was not reliant upon previous foundations nor expectations.

2.Band line up, and since early beginnings did you change line up and if you did why?
2.Temporarily, StarGazer is manned by ; The Serpent Inquisitor (role stated previous) and Great Righteous Destroyer (bass guitar/vocals). We seek a replacement to our second drummer Phoenix Chrysalis.
As intimated, Pale Brethren was ousted in early 1997, due to snowballing personal problems. Phoenix Chrysalis was the replacement until early 2000, whom subsequently left of his own accord, and our blessing as he had not the dedication nor the skills to keep up the pace, nor fathom the technical aspects.

3.How did you find the right name for the band, was it hard for you, did you change your name, and what does it mean and does it fit the music that you are playing?
3.The name StarGazer had been an elective in my mind some time before the official formation of the band, so the opportune moment arose for proposal I suppose!
Our music/lyrics, as the name implies, is that we seek gnosis and experience beyond the confines of earth/ perception/distance. Through the airless black to find a core, a wisdom, a progression.

4.Can you describe your music, can you compare it to some similar bands?
4.Our older compositions have been likened to many bands, a recurring comparison is Order From Chaos, Goreaphobia, Fallen Christ and Absu. Anything post, is largely incomparable, we have developed many themes in originality.

5.Are you religious, do you believe in god, Satan or something else or are you atheist(you can skip this question)?
5.I am a theosophist, not a practicing religious bitch to any misguided faith based on incorrect and tampered histories. Therefore I/we may be considered atheist, with a withstanding faith in all ; ‘There Is No Religion Higher Than Truth’. We endeavor to understand every religion, but we seek the core, causation of existence, core traits, but relinquish any associated respite. I do not expect to know the truth of the world in this life, but I shall near that gnosis with every incarnation. I oft wonder if man is ever meant to know the truth of life?

6.Describe us your local underground metal and core scene, are there any bands that you want to mention, are there many fans of this kind of music?
6.South Australia’s scene is varied in concerns to metal, the bands I shall attempt to recall ; Martire, DarkLord, Omnium Gatherum, Mournful Congregation, MadSwitch, Chalice, Nocturnes Mist, Intellect Devourer, Sci-Sorcery, Alpha Centauri, Lord Of The Command, Oni, Jesus Anal Penetration, Misery’s Omen, Fury, Hatred Slave, Slaughter Thou, Sarsekim, Deluge…..
There are a decent amount of metal fans, but those whom actively support the scene account for less than half of that.

7.Who writes your lyrics and what are they about?
7.I do ; Extra/Ultra/Interrestrial Beings, Eschatology, the Sunken, Ancient Civilizations, Cryptozoology, Ancient/Hidden Races, Sacred Energies, Multifarious Evils, Multidimensionality and such, correlating to the Occult (hidden).

8.Do you have problems with music equipment?
8.Yes, I need more and improved equipment for increased expression.

9.Is it hard to find musicians in your country that want to play that kind of music?
9.It is to find talented ones and/or those with underground values. Quality over quantity is an order of the day, in my opinionated mind.

10.What is your opinion of bands such as Last Days of Humanity, Metallica, Sick of it All, Cradle of Filth?
10.I cannot recall hearing Last Days Of Humanity, death/grind I had been informed? Cliff Burton era Metallica is excellent, especially Master Of Puppets. Sick Of It All ; I dislike post 80’s hardcore. I dislike Cradle Of Filth.

11.How many concerts did you play and in your opinion which was the best?
11.A total of 7, the winner being our show at an event called MetalMorphosis in which some 12 bands, composed of interstate bands and local. Our show is being traded all over Australia, all 6 or so video recorded versions.

12.What is your opinion of soap series?
12.I have no opinion, I have not thought long enough on such drama to form one of consequence. What do you think? Why? Are you a popular soap star? Can I get your autograph?

13.Your opinion about metal from 80-is and about metal from 90-is,and which is the best?
13.Neither is better. Neither is more important. It is all metal, each era great and necessary.

14.Did any of you play in some other bands before or do you still play in some other bands?
14.Yes I perform drums for hell metal veterans Martire, as does Great Righteous Destroyer. G.R.D is also the primary pulse of Mournful Congregation. We both are also a fraction of WaterTamer, alongside two others, being Justin of Chalice and Dimitris of Alpha Centauri/Zemial, that project being progressive rock/jazz/folk in nature.

15.Plans for the future?
15.Another lotus percussionist to fill the triumvirate void, and the album ‘The Scream That Tore The Sky’ late 2001. Hopefully new full color shirts, stickers and a tour of Australia and South East Asia.

16.Say something for the end...
16.For the end? Fear not Man of Hues.
