1.Hi first can you tell us little about the bands history, where are you from, who formed the band and when, discography?
The band started in August of 1999. It was formed by me (David Smittcamp). I'm from Los Angeles, California. As of 11.06.00 G臢GL闻 has 4 releases - "Friday the 14th" demo, "Japanese", "Mechanized Mullet" noise split with panoptic, "untitled" split with CHC that contains G臢GL闻's entire 1st year of computer grind.

2.The line-up and did you change it since the beginning and are planing to change the line up?
I'm the only one in the band - from the beginning to the end. It's will always be a 1-man band because that's how I ment the band to be. There were plans to add a couple people in order to play live, but I didn't want to do it because it wouldn't sound right.

3.About the name of the band, who gave the name and dose it fits in music that you play.Did you change the name since the beginning?
I 1st heard the term "ganglia" while taking an Anatomy / Physiology class in college. I liked how it sounded and also liked the meaning of the word. Ganglia are masses of nerve cells from which nerve impulses are transmitted throughout the body. I write it G臢GL闻 merely for looks. It is pronounced the same as Ganglia. I think the music fits with the name of the band.

4.Can you describe you music and compare it to some similar bands?
All the music I make is computer based. I don't really know if G臢GL闻 sounds like any other bands. Some Libido Airbag, Dataclast, the Locust, and Naked City stuff influences me and sort of sounds like the stuff I make. I'd describe my music as weird, crazy, and mixed up. It goes from blazing speed to slow/calm interludes to strange noises. I even throw in some hip-hop and dance beats sometimes. I like to offset and mix up the music. Every one of my releases sounds slightly different. I make different stuff all of the time, but it's all in the grind/hc/noise realm.

5.Who writes the music and lyrics, what are your lyrics about,do you have lyrics?
I write the lyrics. I wouldn't say I write the music because there aren't any guitars or basses used, but I do make the music myself. The lyrics are generally about philosophy, theology, and every day life occurrences. Sometimes I write gore type lyrics, but only stuff that is realistic. It's straight up impossible to understand what's being said while listening to the music, but on paper the lyrics are ment to get people thinking about life.

6.What are your views concerning religions, racism, morality and death?
This is a great question. I believe that there is a meaning to life. I choose to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ saved me from my sins and hell. Life would be 100% pointless if I were here by chance and had nothing to look forward to. I've studied all of the major religions that exist in the world and have come to the conclusion that Biblical Christianity is the only faith/religion that makes sense. On a side note: many people in grind/noise/metal follow and sing about Satan. Satan was created by God according to the Bible, so if a person believes in Satan they must also believe in God and no one is greater than their master. A lot of people don't like Christianity for various reasons and I can understand that, but I don't understand how people can say that Christians have no place in the underground. Excluding people from the underground is illogical if you truly know what the underground stands for. I think racism still exists throughout the world, but as people learn more and their intelligence increases I believe racism will continue to shrink. I feel that people are racist because of their lack of knowledge. I don't think racism will ever completely go away. In order for there to be morals, there must be a foundation from which all morals come from. I believe this foundation is God. About death - everyone will die and I'm not scared of death. I welcome it.

7.What do you think about noise/grind and noise/core music scene in your country?
I think it's good. I don't listen to much straight harsh noise, but I like grind, hc, and stuff like that. There aren't many grind/noise that perform live in my area. Most of the bands around here are either hardcore or punk. Most of the grind coming out of the US right now is weak and watered down. Bands like Circle of Dead Children are considered grindcore by a lot of people, but to me CODC and other bands like them are just metalcore. There aren't many old school grind bands around these days that I know about. I'm not implying that G臢GL闻 is "true" grind, but I try to incorporate as much grind as I can into my music. My music is obviously different because I don't use guitars or basses.

8.Are you involved in another musical projects, which ones?
Right now it's only G臢GL闻. I might start a separate harsh noise project in 2001 because I no longer make straight harsh noise under the G臢GL闻 name like I used to do.

9.Did you have any gig?
G臢GL闻 doesn't play live and never will.

10.Can you describe us your latest material?
My newest material is a mixture of many styles. I incorporate a lot of different musical elements. In the past I made computer grind and harsh noise separate under the same band name. Now I combine both styles into one and no longer make separate noise tracks. My goal with the new stuff is to keep the intensity really high and blitzkrieging during the fast parts and have sudden breaks switching into different beats and sounds. Overall, the new music is hard to describe, but it's ment to keep the attention of the listener throughout each song.

11.What do you think about Alcohol and drugs?
I don't drink alcohol because I don't like the taste. I've never used drugs. I don't feel the need to use any mind altering substances. I don't claim to be sXe, though. I feel drugs / alcohol are used to escape reality and people should face life's problems and solve them instead of running from them. Moderation is the key!

12.Your opinion about grind core and death metal do you think that three is big difference between this too music directions?
Where I'm from, the West Coast of the USA, grindcore is almost the same thing as hardcore. Death metal is much different than grindcore to me. Grindcore is more hardcore influenced with short super fast songs. Death metal seems to be more about an image and the songs tend to be long / boring with guitar solos. Generally, a lot of today's grindcore and death metal bands sound similar because they combine both genres. I don't listen to much metal.

13.Do you have some other job,or do you only play in the band?
I'm in college right now. I don't have a regular job at the moment, but I have a record label called, Einsteinium Records. I don't make much money off of the band or my label - just enough to keep putting new releases out. All the money I have is from my past jobs. I'll be finishing up college in 1 year and then looking for a career in marketing. I'm pretty lazy.

14.Can you tell us how do you make your music and what equipment do you use?
I use a drum machine, mic, synth, audio editor, and sampler. 1st I make all the drum tracks on the drum machine. Then, I use the synth to generate the background noises that replace the traditional guitar/bass. Sometimes I just use noise that I produce by fiddling around with an audio editor. After I have the basic song mixed together, I figure out what kinda vocals will fit. I record my vocals separate and then mix them into the basic song mix. I'm the mastermind behind the music, but my computer and its programs are the tool.

15.Plans for the future?
Right now I'm working on new material for several compilations as well as a 1-man band split CD. In 2001 I hope to really define the G臢GL闻 sound and start focusing on laying down really good/interesting tracks for a full length or 7". I will also probably start working on a harsh noise full length under a different band name.
