Lord Azamol made a return to Hogwarts School this year, bringing along with him total chaos, Azkaban convicts, and the death of a beloved (?) teacher.
On a dark night in Hogsmeade, a hooded stranger met with American FBI Auror Smithen Jones. This hooded stranger had a plan and a bargain to make with Jones. If Jones let loose the prisoners in Azkaban prison and helped set them loose on Hogwarts castle, then he would help get rid of the current administration at Hogwarts. Jones was reluctant to agree to this, but eventually, he did.
Months later, Lord Azamol made a return to the castle itself with several Dark wizards which had escaped from Azkaban. The students fought valiantly against the escaped wizard prisoners, but Lord Azamol had other plans. He went straight to Professor Samanus McStingy's office to reclaim the Stone of Aries as his own. However, he was caught in the act by Professor Cyrillian Darkmoon.
The two had an exchange before Azamol revealed two things: (1) The reason he needed the destruction of the world was because he was an eternal being who did not want to live anymore and (2) McStingy was a squib who had been using the magic of the Stone of Aries his entire life.
Azamol used the Cruciatus Curse on Darkmoon, causing him excrutiating pain and leaving him only one escape. Darkmoon escaped through his mind to the past where he ended up stealing the powers from all twelve stones of the zodiac and from Azamol himself. But the force was too much, and Cyrillian killed himself.
Without Azamol's magic, he was just a withered old man, and Samanus took him out easily. But Cyrillian Darkmoon was dead. And Samanus was without powers.
The prisoners were returned to Azkaban. Azamol joined them. Smithen Jones was not suspected of anything.
