Thurs. Dec. 11, at 3:10pm AHHAHAHAHHAAHAHHHAHHAHAHAHAHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I'M FINALLY DONE EXAMS! THANK YOU!!!!!!! Lol, It was hard as hell, but I survived. Still, I have no right to say I had a hard exam schedule (compared to engineers with their 6-7 exams... lol, there you go, Spaky). I can't believe I haven't updated since November, it really seems like yesterday. Where did the time go? The study rooms in the basement, that's where it went. Lol. Something is very neat about sitting in a room with 12 cubicles in your pajamas at 2am studying Bio with everyone else around you doing the same thing. It's like a family or something. Rather, it's like sleeping over at school. Which is what it really is. So the rez formal was so much fun :) 900 people on a dance floor. In my opinion, it was better than grad. At least, the food was better, lol... I've developed an unhealthy obsession with The Matrix trilogy and Carrie-Ann Moss. Many hours were spent watching Reloaded, which I have learned to love. The rest of November and beginning of December was spent working with my Inquiry and Psychobio groups to get an essay and filming finished up. I also finally finished all those stupid Geology labs, lived through the boring Bio lectures and managed to stay awake for my 3 8:30 Chems each week. I'm really going to miss my Geo prof, I think she's amazing. I'm taking a course next year just so I can have her again. There was an article in the Hamilton newspaper today on how she makes rocks interesting, lol... In terms of exams, my Bio went very well, despite the fact I really only started studying for it the day before (which wasn't something I did on purpose, Inquiry and Geo took up my time). I didn't even review 3 of the units, and I still schooled that exam, lol. But I've never studied so intensely for anything in my life. That's Bio for you. Chem on the other hand was easily studied because we had just had a test that was on everything so far. So really, the exam was only 3 new units. I think I did fairly well... Then I went to my cottage, slept two 12 hour nites, and watched Christmas Vacation. That's a classic there. I studied for Geo for a total of 4 days. It was a two hour exam, and I finished it in 30 mins, lol... I love Geo! I definitely over-studied for that one... But yes. Sorry for talking about my exams so much, but it was an experience I'll never forget. People act very weird during exams. One nite people were running around outside throwing snow at 5am. Last nite my neighbours were still up at 4:30 studying. I tried to get a lot of sleep, but for Bio, I only had like, 4 hours. I'm running now on 5 hours, and I'm really not tired. I've learnt how to survive on very little sleep, which is an important skill. ANYHOOS, so I'm at home now trying to relax, cleaning up my computer, and catching up on Survivor. Good luck to people that still have exams! And damn you people that have been done for a while *cough* Scheppy *cough*. See you soon! Wed. Nov. 19, at 3:26pm If you haven't already seen this, WATCH IT NOW! So funny! WHOA! I'm updating! Watch out, I'm in the first good mood I've been in since like, August. I had an amazing Inquiry class today. For those of you who don't know what Inquiry is, it goes like this: 1. No professor, only a facilitator. 2. They don't answer any of your questions with answers, only more questions. 3. You do whatever you want in a group for the entire year (all we did last week was eat). 4. It's one 3 hour class a week. 5. You have three interviews that determine your entire mark. Only the final one counts. 6. The mark is based on how well you met a learning objective. 7. Your facilitator doesn't care what you learnt at all, only how you learnt it, and what you learnt when you were learning. 8. There's only 20 people in a class. 9. You actually don't have to do anything in class the entire year. 10. It's all group discussion. Sound weird? It is, but incredibly good if you want to put the effort into it. Today each group talked for 30 mins about our learning process to date on our topics. Our group was just so honest, and there was something amazing about the fact we've gone from being 6 strangers grouped together to being friends. The good thing about our group is that we're all different, which is great when it comes to learning problems (I'm not being sarcastic. The more problems you have in Inquiry, the better). So we did well. And I was comfortable fielding a semi-debate with 20 people, which is something I really wanted to gain from Inquiry. ANYHOOS, lately things have been crazy, if you haven't been able to tell by my lack of updating. I work solid (and I'm not exaggerating) from 8am-1am every day, with maybe two hours to myself for eating and leisure. I finish all my labs this week (YAYAYAYAYAYYAAY!!!!) and have my last test this Friday before finals in December. I get out of school on the 11th, and I can't wait to take some time to play video games, update my computer, and sleep. All classes are going well, except maybe Chem, which I'm averaging a low 80... which isn't bad, but it's just I try so hard, and will loose marks because of something stupid like forgetting a negative sign. All chem tests/exams are multiple choice here, so if you screw one thing up, there goes the question. Still, I'm proud of myself for trying so hard in it, considering it's not my best subject. Psychobio is getting better every lesson. This week we're learning how science pretty much can read someone's thoughts and about cognition. It's surprisingly interesting. Bio is always good, though I'm sad (HAHA, not really!) to leave my lab TA JingJing who can't speak a word of english. It's been a struggle, but she's still easier than most TAs. Geology is so great, not because of how I'm doing in it, but because I actually want to continue env sci next year, and work hth sci into it for a career (I have a direction for my future!!!!). I'm going to apply to work with the Ontario Geological Survey this summer, where you get shipped to northern Ontario for a month or so, and dig up rocks in the forest. It's going to be so great... I'm signed up for volunteering at a nursing home with hth sci, which is something I really want to try doing. I hate nursing homes, but just like I hate hospitals (we have classes there), I want to get over it. Hth sci is great because there are so many opportunities, and we're so close to each other, so we always do stuff like this. In January, a bunch of us are going to an Opera downtown. Lol... This Friday is the Rez Formal, which Jeremey is coming to! It's going to be fun. Last weekend the band had our first concert, and it was so great. I love being part of a band this big playing such beautiful pieces. Anyhoos, I give you credit if you've read this far, this entry is so boring if you're not me. I just wanted to write down some memories about first term since it's gone incredibly fast, which is rather sad. Oh well... Christmas in 36 days!!!!!! Sun. Nov. 9, at 12:26am Ho-hum... bored as usual. Not because I'm doing work, or sitting here staring at the ceiling. I'm just bored already. Sad, isn't it? I haven't updated in a while because I haven't found the time. It's crazy-busy here, between work, sleep, classes, eating, and random other things. Halloween was spent watching Alien and trying to watch 28 Days Later with Sushi, Vishi, Terence, Julie and Yumi. I wrote a bio test that went rather well on Halloween nite as well. Then the next morning Varun and I drove to Queen's to visit our significant others. It was an interesting weekend, filled with me being tired, School Of Rock (SUCH A GOOD MOVIE) and seeing people. Watching Jeremey cheerlead was funny, and Babin, that tiger looks good on you. I was sad to leave because it meant coming back here to work. The drive was horrible - 4 hours of solid rain. But I made it. Yay. I spent last week doing a fun bio lab, horrible chem lab, boring geo lab, and procrastinating. This Friday I saw Matrix Revolutions with a few hth sci people. I must say I liked it better than when I saw Reloaded. I just thought a few parts were a little cheesy (but I won't ruin it for people by telling what those were), and I generally felt satisfied with the ending of the whole thing. Except one part that was sad... I was so upset. Anyhoos, now that I've seen all three, the original was the best, then Revolutions, then the car chase from Reloaded, then Reloaded. I'm actually excited for Revolutions to come out on DVD. Still, the entire trilogy could have been better. So now I'm waiting for Return of the King and the next Harry Potter. They're a long way away... *sighs* So Mac won the Yates cup today in football. Hot diggidy! I went to game, and froze my ass off. But it was worth it. Because there's only 4 teams left in Canada now, and we play Laval here next weekend. And if we win that, it's on to the Vanier cup, which we haven't won since the 60s or something like that. So go Mac! We won the boys rugby nationals thing today, so that was thrilling. I didn't know Mac was so good at sports. Anyhoos, I'm off to bed. Previous Journal Entries |
