Elemental Fae

Water Fairys

Water fae are found in lakes, rivers, pools, springs, wells, fountains, raindrops, teardrops, and at the ocean's edge. They love running water in the form of bubbling springs and waterfalls. *crossing over or through running water is a way to enter their realm* Nixies are english fairys with white skin and long green hair and are related to the Nereids of Greece, the fenetten of Germany, the kållråden of Sweden, the Bonga Maidens of India, and many others. In salt water you would find mermaids, mermen, beguiling sirens of both sexes, and the seal people called selchies...who sometimes will marry human men and women. Some sea fae are known to help sailers in a storm, while others are known to help them to sink even when the sky is clear.

Fire Fairys

Fire fairys come in various names and shapes: salamanders, fire feys, fire drakes, drakes, drachen, and draks. Throughout time, societies cultures were based upon those responsible for lighting the fire...as well as the sacred fire itself. Therefore the task of the priest or shaman is to keep the sacred fire burning. In England, sacred fires are still lit on old pagan holy days such as Samain and Midsummer's Eve, attracting many fairies to dart around the flames. In America, the spirits of the fire can be brought about and honored by gifts of cedar and tobacco; and sacred fire plays an important part in various native spirit-calling ceremonies. The aitvaras is a household fire fairy known best in Lithuania. Sometimes, he is seen shaped like a flying dragon breathing fire and all, but sometimes you can only see his flaming tail. The domovik is a Russian household fairy/family gaurdian who lives under the hearth. He is never addressed directly and is called Himself or Grandfather. When he isn't pleased with something, he sometimes will burn down the house. Fire fairys come in various names and shapes: salamanders, fire feys, fire drakes, drakes, drachen, and draks.

Air Fairys

Air is the element of all winged fairys, whose energies are subtle, quick and flowing. They are cretures of ambition and perfection, flying between worlds. All storms and winds are assosiated with air fairys, gental breezes to monsoons. Their method of movement is graceful and almost efforless, launched forward by thought and emotion instead of the whrrr of engines or the flapping of wings. Air fairys are in general an evolved fairy form, because they bring together aspects of all four basic elements. The wings are sybolic of air, their human or animal legs of earth, their shimmering, radiant quality is fire, and the fluid aspect of shape shifting is water.

Earth Fairys

Gnomes, according to the writings of Paracelsus, can swim through solid earth as easily as fish can swim through water. And in Jewish esotericsm tradition, gnomes are said to dwell at the very center of the earth. ***whistling drives knockers, a dimutive race found in mines and quarries throughout Europe who are usually quite friendly creatures, into fits of rage*** Tree spirits are rooted in the earth element, as are all those brownies, goblins, and pixies who make their home among tree roots.
