Chapter Nine

Without noticing, Brian walked out the door, he couldn’t stand seeing all the lovey-dovey stuff, it reminded him of Cindy, his ex.

He was at the beach. He sat down on the sand, looking at the ocean, listening to the waves and hoping all these will bring peace to him.

“Are you okay?” A female voice asked.

“Yeah.” He replied, turning to look at his new company. She’s wearing a blue spaghetti strap top and jeans. Brian stood up, seeing her face to face, she’s about three or four inches shorter than he is. Her long blonde hair was up in a loosely bun with pieces of hair falling around her face. Her blue eyes were shining with delight and concern.

“I’m Rebecca.” She introduced herself with a slight smile on her face, the few freckles on her cheek danced as her smile deepened.

“I...” Brian couldn’t speak, for the first time in his life, he found himself speechless.

“What’s yours?”

“Brian, Brian Litterell.”

“As in Brian Litterell the one that wrote The Perfect Fan?” Rebecca asked in awe.

“Guilty.” Brian laughed, surprising that the girl didn’t identify as Brian from the Backstreet Boys.

“I love that song.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, the words touched every part of me and brought back memories with my mom.” Rebecca smiled.

“It does the same to me too, whenever I hear that song, I automatically think of my mom. Are you close to her?”

“Yeah... My dad worked in the army, so I moved a lot when I was a kid. So it has always been my mom and me! We’re a team. After my dad passed away, we moved to Kentucky, but then we moved to Orlando because my mom got promoted.” Rebecca explained.

“Do you have a job or something?” Brian asked, then soon regret his stupid question.

“Yeah... I help teach a hip-hop dancing class.” Rebecca replied, gave him another one of her smiles.

“That’s kool. Maybe you can show me a few new steps.” Brian grinned.

“What are you doing on the beach?” Rebecca couldn’t help but wonder.

“Walking, thinking... Hey, do you wanna to meet the guys?”

“Sure!”

“Allow me.” Brian offered his arm.

“Thank you.” Rebecca grinned as she took his arm and began walking back to the house.

Angela, DeaAnne, Kevin and Nick were sitting at the table, watching AJ and Howie playing pool against their new girlfriends. Kevin was telling DeaAnne about all the pranks Nick pulled, including the time where he put pepper and salt in Howie’s coke, and tried to put AJ’s hair in little braid while AJ’s sleeping.

“You must look so cute in little braids!” Steph giggled.

“Not when my hair is bleached blonde, and short!” AJ said, laughing.

“So Howie, want some coke?” Kristen asked handing Howie his coke.

“Yeah, as long as you don’t put anything else but coke in it!” Howie replied picking up the glass, and examining it carefully. The group burst into laughter.
