Chapter Twenty-two

The phone woke Angela from her sleep. “Hello?”

“Hey!” Amanda yelled.

“Hi, I think I’m deaf.” Angela complained, rubbing her eyes.

“Guess what happened after me and Brian left the fair?”

“I don’t know...and I’m too tired to guess.”

“Okay, okay...we exchanged numbers and e-mail addresses! He said he’ll call me.”

“That’s great.” Angela told her friend.

“Anything happened with Nick?”

“Ran into some fans, drop me home, good-night kiss, ya know, the usual.” She smiled.

“Brian’s coming over for movies tonight!” Amanda exclaimed, again, Angela lost her hearing.

“Look, Manda, I’m really happy for you and all, but I need to...” Before she could finish, Amanda told her that there’s another calls, and Angela gladly let her go.

Meanwhile, Sarah was on the phone with Marissa. “Look, you don’t have a choice.” Marissa hissed.

“Why? Nick is happy now.” Sarah protested.

A dark look clouded over Marissa’s face. “No, he’s not. Either you help or kiss AJ goodbye.”

Sarah glanced at AJ, who was wearing an apron and making pancakes, she felt herself weaken. Slowly, she said in to speaker, “What do you have in mind?” Marissa let a satisfied laugh as she proceed to tell Sarah her plan.

After talking to Amanda, Angela couldn’t get back to sleep, she took a quick shower and threw on a 3/4 sleeve shirt and a pair of baggy jeans. The phone rang again. “Hello?”

“Hey, wanna go shopping today?”

“Sorry, who is this?” Angela asked as she poured herself a glass of milk.

“Sarah.”

“I’m sorry...Sure, but window shopping, no money.”

“Just go to Nick, he’ll have money. That’s what I do with AJ.” Sarah suggested.

“But, he’ll think that I’m using him for...”

Sarah stopped her. “He won’t, beside, isn’t it your anniversary or something? Like a month since you guys went out, a little present might be nice, surprise him!”

“Well, I guess so.” Angela sighed.

“Okay, I’ll pick you up around 2pm.”

“Great, later!”

After Angela hang up, Marissa’s voice popped in. “I told you she wouldn’t notice a thing.”

“Yeah. But why did you have to make me three-way her?”

“Just to make sure you would go with the plan.”

“I gotta go.” Sarah pushed the off button and put the phone back on the charger. Marissa let the phone fall to the floor as she sat down in her chair, knowing that Nick was going to be single again... soon.
