Shortly after Sarah called, Nick was at Angela’s doorstep. “Sup? Babe!” Nick said sweetly when Angela answered the door.
“Going shopping... I have something to ask you..."
“Well, what is it?”
“See, I’m going shopping with Sarah, and I don’t have any money with me right now...”
“Do you need money from me?” Nick asked, sounding suspicious, he had been hurt from his past relationships.
“Yes and no! Nick, I would never use you for money... I love you and you know I would never do anything to hurt you in any ways.”
“I know, here, take my Discover card and here’s my license.”
“Thanks.” Angela whispered.
“It’s nothing. I gotta go, Marissa wants to show me a new dance move she made.” Nick grinned.
“Thanks... I’ll pay you back, I promise.” She smiled weakly, thinking about Marissa and Nick together.
“Sure, pay my back with kisses.” Nick laughed as Angela kissed him on the forehead.
“Why not?” Angela kissed him again.
“Bye! I’ll come over around 7.” Nick waved goodbye.
Moments later, Angela and Sarah were at the mall. “What should I get him?” Angela asked Sarah, who’s looking through a rackful of clothing.
“Clothes? Cologne? Nintendo games? Do you think it will look good on me?” She suggested as she held up a long black skirt with the split goes up to the thigh.
“Yeah... Do you think Nick will like this?” She showed her friend a T-shirt that says ‘I’m da MAN!’ in big, bold letters. They broke into laughter.
“See? You step left then right.” Marissa explained.
“Yeah, I got it.” Nick said sheepishly, trying to hide the fact that he wasn’t paying attention.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well, Angela kinda asked me for money today...”
“And you think that she’s using you?” Marissa finished for him.
“Yeah...”
“Are there any signs?” Marissa questioned curiously, knowing that her plan is working.
“What do you mean ‘signs’?”
“Like telling you that she loves you and she would never hurt you, or that she’ll pay you back or lie to you when you asked her what she got.” Marissa listed.
“Well... She would never lie to me.” Nick said slowly, beginning to doubt himself.
“You can always drop by later and check on her.”
Nodding in agreement, Nick replied, “I’m going over around 7. You should come with me since you’re good at judging characters.”
“Sure.” Marissa smiled back at him, knowing it’s time for step two of her plan. “I’m gonna get something to drink, do you want anything?” Marissa walked towards the kitchen.
“Nah, I’m fine.” Nick replied; his ice-blue eyes were cloud with confusion.
“Okay, suit yourself!” As soon as Marissa got out Nick’s sight, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Sarah’s cell phone number.
