Chapter Twenty-five

“Nick, I know what this looks like, but you have to believe me! I didn’t use you.” She started, looking into Nick’s eyes. His eyes are cold, like ice; this is not the Nick she once knew.

“Do you know how much I want to believe you? Do you?”

“I know! Because that’s how much I want you to believe me, I love you.”

“Why?”

“Why what?” Angela stared at him, confused.

“Why do you love me?” Nick gazed into my eyes

“For one reason, the best reason of all.” She took a deep breath then finished, “I just do.”

Nick said nothing, his hand in head, as if trying to make meaning of the words. “You know what, I have something I want to tell you too... I think you’re the best liar I known in my entire life.” Nick stated coldly then starts to walk out the house.

“No, Nick. Please...please...think about what we had...please.” Angela repeated it over and over again, in a voice that’s barely audible.

Nick turned around, he feels like someone just drove a knife into his chest. It hurt him to know that he has hurt the woman he loved, and from the pain, he realized that he still loves her. Nick shook his head and started walking again, forcing himself to walk out that door even thought it’s the hardest thing he’s ever done in his entire life.

Seeing Nick’s figure disappeared, and hearing his car drove off, I sink to my knees and break into a silent sob.

Sarah and Marissa stood outside on the lawn, they saw Nick drove off and heard the whole conversion. “See? I told you it would work.” Marissa smiled victoriously.

“Yeah, whatever.” Sarah replied, she paused for a second, “You won’t tell AJ, right?” She asked.

”Yeah, I don’t say a word to AJ if you don’t say a word to Nick.” Mairssa warned then got in her car and drove off.

Sarah sighed heavily as she walked in the apartment. “Angela?”

“Leave me alone!” Angela yelled as she jumped on the bed and pulled the covers over her head.

“I’m sorry about what happened... I...I...” Sarah stuttered.

“Leave me alone!” She screamed, unable to think of anything else to say, Sarah left the room and got in her car. She drove to AJ’s house.

“Yeah?” Brian answered his cell phone after excused himself from Amanda, they’re sitting at Taco Bell.

“Rok? It’s Nick. You busy?”

“I’m on a date, what’s wrong?”

“Angie and I broke up.” Nick whispered.

“What? You’ve gotta be kidding! Angela is the sweet person ever!” Without noticing, Brian stepped into Angela’s defense.

“Don’t you think I know that? That’s what I love about her, but she used me for money!” Nick raised his voice.

“That doesn’t sound like her at all. Where are you?”

“My house.”

“I’ll be there in about 20 minutes.” Brian hung up the phone.

“Who was it?” Amanda asked while taking a sip of her coke.

“How long have you known Angela?” “5 or 6 years, why?”

“According to Nick, she used him for money.”

“She would never do that!”

“I don’t think she would either. Well, I’m going to Nick’s house right now, why don’t you come with me, maybe we can find out what happened.” Amanda nodded and the two of them head out the restaurant.
