Chapter Thirty-four

But by the time when he got there, he found out disappointing news. Angela wasn't in the hotel, according to the manager; she had left to go for a walk. At the moment, Nick felt like a candle surviving in a storm, but someone just walked by and blew it out. And he had the perfect plan, he had everything set up or maybe it wasn't' meant to be? Although everything seems to be going against him, Nick wasn't going to give up. He asked the manager to give him a call when she returned. He went home after leaving the message. Again, he sat on his bed, waiting.

Finally, when it was almost eight at night, the hotel called and told him that Angela was in her room. Nick hung up the phone and raced out to his car. When he got there, the cloud were forming in the sky, hinting that there would be a storm coming soon. But Nick didn't care. Slowly and silently, he set up the microphone outside of the window of Angela's room. He had already informed the hotel on his way that he would stopped by and asked them to clear out the building.

*~*

Angela was lying on the hard, cold hotel bed. Thinking back to the time that she spent with Nick. His smile, his voice and way his eyes lit up whenever she smiles. How she wished that she could be with him right now, just to be near him. But she couldn't, even as a child, she had a high sense of proud, a rather sensitive pride. She had trusted Nick with her life, and he didn't. The pride was damaged.

"Nick..." Angela whispered. Her attention was caught by the soft melody playing outside the window. As she walked over, she saw Nick. He was standing outside, with a microphone in his hand and a look of sadness on his face.  Nick opened his mouth, as if he was trying to get the words out, but instead, it was lyrics...

"Listen girl, I don't know where to start. But every word I say comes straight from the heart. I've been so wrong I never meant to hurt you. Oh girl, I'm sorry for what I put you through." Nick stared at her with such passion in his eyes that made Angela felt like she was turning into rubber.

"Girl I'd do anything for one more chance. 'Cause I want you back again. 'Cause every time I close my eyes I see your face and wonder. When you close your eyes. Do you think about me? Now I realize I want you girl and no other. Every time I close my eyes, you're all that I see..." As Nick finished the chorus, the rain started to fall, Angela let out a small gasp as Nick was soaking wet of the pouring rain. She grabbed the towel and ran down stairs.

Seeing Angela disappeared from the window, Nick could feel his heart break again, but he continued to sing.

"You and I we shared a lot together. Each other is we'd ever need. I thought that you would stay with me forever. But I took for granted the love you gave to me. I'll keep on tryin' till the end. Baby I'm takin' you back with me again. I need you back. 'Cause every time I close my eyes I see your face and wonder. When you close your eyes. Do you think about me? Now I realize I want you girl and no other. Every time I close my eyes, you're all that I see..." Nick felt his spirit lifted when he caught a glance of Angela at the door, with a towel in her hands. 'She cares about me.' Nick thought happily as he turned to her direction and finished the song.

"Girl, I'm going out of my mind I miss you so much I don't know what to do. They say it's just a matter of time until I feel your touch, until you let me come back to you. I think about you girl every time I'm in love. And it feel so right I never meant to hurt you or cause you pain I was stupid enough to fall for Marissa's game." Nick winked at her at his change of lyrics. "But now those days are over I've changed my ways I'm counting the minutes; I'm counting the days. Until you let me come back, until you let me start to find a new way to get back into your heart..." Before Nick can sing the last chorus, he was embraced by a hug. Angela had dropped the towel and let it lay on the ground. All she needed was Nick, all she ever wanted was Nick and now he's in her arms, she knew that she would never let him go.

"Forgive me?" Nick whispered.

"Yes, and I'm sorry." Angela sobbed into his chest, letting the rain-wash away the pain, the hurt and all the misunderstanding.
