"We both carry a smile to show when we're pleased, we both carry a switchblade in our sleves" ani difranco, if he tries anything

It's funny the way I think of my car. When she is low on gas I feel so bad and guilty when I need to drive her places, like she's all old and tired and I shouldn't be driving her to the library again because I was just there. But then when I fill her up with gas, (and for me I mean, all the way full. If I just pump five bucks in it doesn't change my feelings of guilt) anyways, when she's completely full of gas it's like she's a brand new car. Gas is magic that makes it okay if I want to drive in to Wal Mart because I need like two things. It's kinda weird. I feel guilt because of the amount of gas, well miles too, because everytime I fill up I press that little button that resets my mileage to 000.0 . So that goes in to my irrational thought process too. I believe that having no miles is much better and more okay than having say, 220. Anyways.

(as long as I'm confessing guilt attached to my car I also did something really horrible once. I drove around 6 miles in second gear because I have an automatic and I accidentally put it in 2 instead of D. And I didn't notice but she kept making weird sounds when I got over 45 so I just drove 45mph for six miles and then realized what I'd done. I felt horrible!!!)

Also Christie and I were driving home from the library today, listening to Under Rug Swept. Utopia came on which is my favorite song on that cd so I turned it up all the way to 19. (Usually when people ride with me I only have my cd player on 10 or 11, but when I'm by myself it's 18 or 19. ) We were listening to Utopia and we were driving in town so I wasn't going over 30, and there was a bird sitting on the road. It didn't start to fly away, a little robin, so I breaked a little to give it some time to fly away. And Christie laughed and I laughed, and I simply said over the beautiful music, "I break for birds".
