So yesterday was Easter. Animals don't really have holidays. Well perhaps they do and we just aren't aware of them. Anyways, you've got to figure that Easter is a holiday that a few animals get to enjoy.
Even though Christe and I are old enough to do without Easter tradition, the Easter bunny still hides eggs outside, and we still race to get the most.
Every year there are hard boiled eggs, along with plastic ones that contain candy or quarters.
I can imagine what happens to that one egg we always fail to rediscover.
Baby squirrel: "Hey mom, is this a nut?"
Mom squirrel: "No dear that's a neon plastic fake egg."
Baby squirrel: "What's plastic?"
Mom squirrel: "It's something that humans created using fossil fuels, that doesn't ever biodegrade."
Baby squirrel: Hides the egg so he can come back later.
Later, with baby squirrel's siblings.
Baby squirrel: "Hey guys, look, a human egg!"
Siblings: "Ohhh..."
Baby squirrel: "Lets try to break it open. Maybe there's a human inside."
Breaks it open to discover a jelly bean and a pastel-wrapped peanut butter cup. All the siblings devour the delicious sugar treats.
Baby squirrel and company all look foward to finding another human egg.
Imagine how disappointed they are when they find a rotton chicken egg. Or even worse. A piece of metal.
(it keeps me amused)
