"Hold on to nothing as fast as you can" tori, pretty good year

Some day I suppose I'll be grateful to be thought of as a high school student. When I'm forty I'm sure that would be a great compliment.

I have a college id because I'm taking college courses in addition to my high school ones. At the college library you can check out whatever you want, and your id is your library card. I found out tonight from my piano teacher that you could check out piano books. So I stopped at the library and picked up a few and went to the check-out desk hoping I could just give 'em my card and get out of there.

First I got to help the girl at the desk figure out how to print only a certain amount of a spreadsheet out. I'm good like that. Then she asked for my id and I gave it to her. And then she said, "have you ever checked anything out here before?" and I said, "no," so she had to give me some paperwork. And that of course asks for your age and enrollment status. So I shrunk from being a college student in someone's eyes to being a high-schooler, all in a matter of minutes. And then even worse it turns out you have to be an adult to get the piano books out so I had to give her Mom's name in order to check them out. Luckly she was nice about it, she didn't treat me any differently.

But as I walked out I was just disappointed. I am really happy when people believe that I'm in college or assume that. So having her believe I was a college stuent was a proud moment for me. And then in a matter of five minutes I was reduced to a small high school student. I wanted to say, "the only reason I'm in high school is because the government says I had to take it between junior high and college!" But I just left and walked back to my car.

And I started doing a little jive to some music I heard, I thought it was coming from a dorm but really it was from a car. So when I realized it was from a car and the car drove right behind me I started laughing out loud. I thought "my speakers would blow up if I played my music that loud!" And then I heard some birds singing and thought today was a pretty good day.
