Wednesday, August 20, 1997--Dad had triple-bypass surgery. Thanks to those of you who prayed! He's in the hospital (St. Joseph's Hospital, Orange, CA) and recovering. He will probably be there for a week+. Continue to pray!!!
Thursday, August 21, 1997--Dad remains in ICU; his recovery is slow. They plan to keep him in ICU for another day or two.
Saturday, August 23, 1997--Dad has been moved to the "general hospital population". There's the possibility he will be released from the hospital this coming Tuesday (8/26/97); continue to pray.
Thursday, August 28, 1997--Dad has been moved to the Transitional Care Unit at St. Joseph's. He continues to get better.
Wednesday, September 8, 1997--Dad left the hospital! He spent the night at Greg and Debbie's and he and mom plan to go to a retirement home in Fullerton for a couple of months, then return home.
Wednesday, September 17. 1997--Dad and Mom are living in a retirement home in Fullerton, CA.
Sunday, September 28, 1997--Happy Birthday, Mother! Dad and Mom are still living in Fullerton. Dad's able to drive again!
Saturday, November 1, 1997--Dad and Mom moved back home! Call or write to them at their home address and phone number.
Week of December 1, 1997--Dad went to the hospital for his weekly exercise/therapy and the doctor put him back in the hospital for tests. He went home on Sunday, December 15th.
Wednesday, December 30, 1998--Greg took dad to St. Joseph's Hospital. Dad's blood pressure was 59/30--he was ILL!!! He was placed on multiple machines and medications.
Thursday, December 31, 1998--Not much change in dad's condition. E-mail sent to family and friends--PRAY, PLEASE!
Friday, January 1-Sunday January 3rd--Continual, slow improvement. At noon on Sunday, dad's blood pressure was up to 121/69. He was still on a ventilator and some medication. If things continue to progress, the doctor thinks he may be able to leave the CCU section on Wednesday. Additional recovery and rehabilitation will probably take one to two (or more) weeks there at St. Joseph's Hospital. Continue to pray!!!
Thursday, January 7, 1999--Dad's off the ventilator/respirator! He still has a feeding tube. He would like to be out of the hospital:-)! Continue to pray! Dad's address is: St. Joseph Hospital-CCU, 1100 W. Stewart Drive, Orange, CA 92863-5600.
Sunday, January 10, 1999--Dad's been moved to the Respiratory Unit at the hospital (FAX--714/771-8206). He's making good progress. This morning he was able to walk from his room, across the hall, and back; that's progress!
He is having trouble swallowing. They're going to give him some exercises to assist with the recovery of this function. Continue to pray about this with us.
Dad may move from the Respiratory Unit to the Rehabilitation Unit tomorrow (1/11/99).
Monday, January 11, 1999--Dad isn't doing as well today--temperature's up. Continue to pray...
Tuesday, January 12, 1999--Dad is intubated and in ICU--secondary infection and ??? Continue to pray!
Wednesday, January 13, 1999--Dad held his own today. His blood pressure is low; he's still on the respirator and receiving medications for the infection. It was said that if he improves tomorrow they might take him off of the respirator. Thanks for your continual prayers!
Thursday, January 14, 1999--Sounds like dad is infected with a couple of antibiotic-resistant "bugs". He's stable, currently, but there is a concern that 1) the "bugs" won't be affected by the antibiotics and 2) that he will be reinfected if they remove the breathing and feeding tubes. These aren't problems for our God; continue to pray with us. If you're able, send dad a card (address above), or an e-mail (ours, Greg and Deb's, or dad's).
Friday, January 15, 1999--the tube came out today; exciting! Dad's coughing up a storm. He's still in isolation and in ICU. Thanks for praying!
Monday, January 18, 1999--dad continues to improve; thanks for praying! The antibiotics he's receiving seem to be working. He may move from ICU to another room in the hospital today or tomorrow. He wants to get OUT of the hospital NOW! (Cabin er hospital fever?) If you're in the area, stop in and see him. If you're out-of-area, drop him a postcard or note. Hospital address is above (1/7/99).
Tuesday, January 19, 1999--Dad had a procedure done w/ his heart today. He's through it and doing well. Continue to pray for his mental well-being and for continued healing. Dad's still in ICU.
Wednesday, January 20, 1999--dad's maintaining. That's a tough one for him and for those of us praying for him. Do continue to pray for dad, and for Greg and I as we all prayerfully make decisions.
Thursday, January 21, 1999--dad's getting tired. He'd like to go home to heaven to be with mom and with Jesus. Continue to pray with us.
Friday, January 22, 1999--dad chose to have a GI tube inserted today. He's receiving supplemental oxygen @ 40%. He may move to another facility over the weekend.
Sunday, January 24, 1999--it appears that dad now has pneumonia in lungs. He's tired and rests alot.
Monday, January 25, 1999--testing has confirmed that dad now has pneumonia in both lungs; moving him to an alternate facility has been postponed indefinitely. Today he was really TIRED.
Tuesday, January 26, 1999--Dad looked better today and he was able to talk and "do" more. On the numbers side--his temperature is up to 101.8, breathing is more difficult, and he is using 20 liters of oxygen. Thanks for continuing to pray!
Wednesday, January 27, 1999--Dad entered the hospital four weeks ago today! During the night, his fever peaked, then broke. Today he felt much better, is alert, and coughed up LOTS of stuff. Continue to pray.
Thursday, January 28, 1999--this morning dad looked pretty good. He was moved from ICU to the third floor--Respiratory Unit. This evening, he doesn't look so good. He's on the maximum amount of oxygen possible and at 84% to 85% saturation (he should be at 92%+). His lungs continue to fill up with fluid. Apart from a miracle, it looks like he may graduate to heaven to meet his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ; he will also get to see Mom again. Continue to pray with us--for strength, peace, and that in all, God will be glorified.
Friday, January 29, 1999--at 4:00 A.M. dad left us and went to be with Jesus. Thanks to all who have been praying!

To get to FAIRHAVEN, take the 55 freeway north or south to 17th Street. Exit and go west to Tustin Ave. Take Tustin Avenue north to Fairhaven. Turn left (west) and travel 'till you come to the memorial park (appx. 1/2 to 1 mile). The church is located at the entrance to the park.
Viewing is scheduled for 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, February 4th. It's in the main building just east of the church.
