Chapter Four

That night, I went straight to my bunk when we got back on the bus. I didn't know what to say to Ashley, so I put the roses on the table in the main part of the bus and I had a shower before climbing into bed. I was already asleep when they came onto the bus.

I knew it would be harder to avoid him tomorrow but I hadn't planned on changing my opinion about him, simply because he sent me roses. Any guy could do that, it would take a little bit more effort to impress me.

It didn't take long for me to run directly into Ashley, litterally. I was sitting at the front of the bus, reading a new book when he came in. He had just taken a shower and he sat down across from me at the small table.

"So you got the flowers?" he asked.

"Yes." I replied, not looking up from my book.

"You were really good."

"Thanks." I didn't move, I just kept reading, hoping he would get the hint.

Apparently he did because he got up and walked away.

"Look, I understand what you're saying, but I still must say that Boston was better than Bread. I mean, I love the song "Everything I own" but does it even compare to "More than a feeling?"

"That's what I've been trying to tell you. It does! It's better!" Phil said.

Yes, I had found comfort in Phil, the pot-bellied bus driver.

"Whatever, Phil. You're wrong!" I laughed, before standing up and heading to the back of the bus. I collapsed onto a laz-e-boy and Blondie came into the room at the same time. This time, he didn't try to make conversation, he just sat down in the chair next to me and opened his book.

I sighed a bit, and Ashley looked up.

"What?" he asked.

"What do you mean, 'What' ?" I asked.

"I mean, what are you sighing for?"

"I don't know? Is that not allowed?"

"Whatever." he said, going back to his book.

"Whatever." I mumbled in return.

He looked up at me again.

"WHAT?!" I asked, raising my voice a little.

"Oh, so now it's a crime to look at you?" he countered.

"UGH!" I yelled.

"What's your problem?" he asked.

"My problem?! You want to know what it is? I'm sick of you people and it's only been three days! I hate this whole tour!"

"No. That's not your problem." he replied. I was getting so pissed off because he was just sitting there, completely calm .

"Then do share with me Ashley, what IS my problem?" I replied, trying to keep my cool.

"Your problem is that you won't give anyone a chance. I'm really trying here, Kerr. I want to prove to you that were sincere people and we're not the clowns you make us out to be, but you're not giving me a chance to do that." he said. I was shocked. I didn't say anything for a moment.

"Did you ever stop to think that I didn't want you to prove anything to me?" I asked. I knew it was a stupid thing to ask, but I needed to buy some time.

"You're judging us unfairly, so I have to."

"Whatever." I said, yet again. I headed to the back of the bus.
