PRACTICE OUTLINE

This outline is intended to show a student a basic way to get through all of the Exercises and Etudes offered at this site. Beginners may want to go slower and Advanced students may want to speed up. One hour is NOT very much time to dedicate to learning the material, but most people have an hour. Repetition on a daily basis is the key! It is imperative that one be organized and keep a practice log of what you have accomplished each practice session. Do not allow the amount of information to overwhelm you. Many of the exercises are based on things that you already know at some level. Focus on short-term goals and use the practice log to document your progress. REMEMBER...Do not waste time playing things you already know. Practice what you cannot play!!
Daily: focus on 1+ root movement for each triad/chord exercise, 8 bars of a solo, and all of the warm-ups everyday. Try to apply these patterns to your improvising during the FREE Play segment.
Things will get faster as you progress weekly.
