5. ALEXANDER CAIRNS: Fifth child of James Cairns and Elizabeth
    Patterson.
    Born 9 May 1817, Berwickshire, Scotland, died 1898, Grand Rapids,
    Mich. In 1846, he married Harriet Trusler born 1 Sep 1829, died
    24 Sep 1910. (d/o John Trusler  and Jane Childs).
    Buried Grand Rapids, Mich.
    They had 10 children. Jane, James, Walter, Eliza, Martha, Alexander,
    Ellen, Ida, Alice and John.

1. JANE "Jennie" CAIRNS: Born 1847, died 1912. She married John
    Grant, born 1844, died 1902.
    Both buried Oak Hill Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Mich.
    They had 6 children. Scuba, Nellie, Charles & Frederick (Twins),
    Myrtle and John.

        (1) SCUBA GRANT: Born 1874. She married Theodore Bowe,
             born 1871.
             They had 2 children. Gladys and Ernest.

        (2) NELLIE GRANT: Born 19 Apr 1876, died 7 Nov 1898.

        (3) CHARLES T. GRANT: (Twin). Born 15 Dec 1879, died 1914.

        (4) FREDERICK E. GRANT: (Twin). Born 15 Dec 1879, died
             19 Sep 1900.

        (5) MYRTLE OLIVE GRANT: Born 18 Oct 1881, died 29 Jul 1964.
             On the 25 Jul 1907, she married Newton Andrew Cairns, born
             2 May 1885, died 27 Oct 1966. (s/o James Lang Cairns and
             Eva West).
             Both buried Woodlawn Cem., Grand Rapids, Mich.
             They had 2 children. Cyril and Thierl.

        (6) JOHN GRANT: Born Feb 1888.

2. JAMES CAIRNS: Born 27 Feb 1850, died 6 Jan 1913. On the 22 Oct
    1872, he married Mary Walker, born 14 Jun 1854, died 8 Mar 1919.
    Both buried Howard City, Mich.
    They had 8 children. Margaret, James, Harriet, Mary, Robert, Bert,
    Baby and Baby.

        (1) MARGARET CAIRNS: Born 1871. She married James L. Shaul.
             They had 3 children. James, Gilbert and Clifford.

        (2) JAMES CAIRNS: Born 1876, died 7 Nov 1955. On the 23 Nov
             1901, he married Clara McKinney born 1880.
             Both buried Howard City, Mich.
             They had 2 children. Baby and Lyle.

        (3) HARRIET CAIRNS: Born 1878, died 19 Dec
             1968.       Never married.

        (4) MARY CAIRNS: Born 1881. She married Henry Ritter, born
             1872.
             They had 4 children. Neva, Mildred, Royal and Margaret.

        (5) ROBERT DELL CAIRNS: Born 25 Dec 1884,  died 14 Jan
             1975. On the 28 Oct 1908, he married Ferna Shroll, born
             21 Feb 1887,  died 31 Jul 1953.
             Both buried Howard City, Mich.
             They had 3 children. Ransome, Ronald and Winston.

        (6) BERT ANDREW CAIRNS: Born 1888, died 3 Aug 1922. On the
             4 Nov 1909, he married Anna Magdalene "Myrtle" Hansen, born
             1889 died 1981.
             Both buried Howard City, Mich.
             They had 2 children. Muriel and Alton.

3. WALTER CAIRNS: Born 1853. He married Mary Talladay, born 1857,
    died 1914.
    They had 1 child. Frederick.

4. ELIZA CAIRNS: Born 1854. On the 19 Dec 1871, she married James
    Walker, born 1847.
    They had 12 children. William, Mary, Harriet, Catherine, James,
     Alexander, David, Alice, Luella, Lewis, Walter and Arthur.

              Woodruff.

              Dixon.

         (8) ALICE JANE WALKER: Born 1888. She married Carl Luhro.

         (9) LUELLA BERNICE WALKER: Born 1894. She married Marvin
              Ford.

        (10) LEWIS B. WALKER: Born 1897.

        (11) WALTER WALKER: Born and died 1899/1900.

5. MARTHA MARY CAIRNS: Born 8 Jun 1858, died 18 Oct 1935. On
    the 8 Jun 1875, she married Charles H. Fetterly, born 17 May 1851,
    died 1941.
    They had 10 children. Ellen, Nellie, Edward, Jessie, William, Howard,
    Alexander, Belle, Delbert and Florence.

         (1) ELLEN FETTERLY: Born 22 Jan 1876, died 1952. On the
              25 Dec 1895, she married Gabriel B. Burkett, born 1875.
              They had 5 children. Charles, Emma, Gladys, Harriet and
              Inez.

         (2) NELLIE FETTERLY: Born 5 Apr 1877, died 22 Dec 1954. In
              1895, she married Louis Sayles born 27 Oct 1871, died
              16 Aug 1936.
              They had 1 child. Arland.

         (3) EDWARD FETTERLY: Born 1879, died 26 Oct 1906.

         (4) JESSIE E. FETTERLY: Born 28 Mar 1881,  died 18 Nov 1952.
              On the 31 Oct 1903, he married Elizabeth Bird/Macomber,
              born 21 Feb 1883, died 16 Apr 1964.
              They had 7 children. Edward, Otto, Jared, Milo, Orlo, Doris
              and Charles.

         (5) WILLIAM HENRY FETTERLY: Born 31 May 1884, died 1959.
              On the 19 Feb 1906, he married Myrtle Howe, born 13 Mar
              1886, died 20 Mar 1921.
              They had 3 children. Alice, Myrtle and Rilla.

             William re-married 23 Aug 1924 to Pearl Blanche McCamman.
             They had 3 children. Maurice, Lulu and Louis.

         (6) HOWARD DWIGHT FETTERLY: Born 1885, died 1971. On
              the 7 Dec 1907, he married Maude Imogene Harker, born
              19 Dec 1889, died 1 Sep 1927.
              They had 4 children. Harold, Lucille, Alma and Ethel.

              Howard re-married 10 Sep 1934 to Amelia Butler.
              They had 3 children. Francis, Wayne and Ilene.

              1972. In 1918, he married Ruth Hull born 19 Sep 1896, died
              4 May 1973.
              They had 3 children. Marion, Wilbur and Clayton.

        (10) FLORENCE MARY FETTERLY: Born 16 Jul 1898, died 8 Jun
               1993. She married Sidney Schoolmaster, born 1 Jul 1907,
               died 8 Jun 1987.
               They had 1 child. Sidney.

10. JOHN E. CAIRNS: Born 1875. On the 19 Feb 1900, he married
      Etta Wagenmaker, born 12 Sep 1880, died 8 Sep 1902. (d/o Ralph
      Wagenmaker and Edith Van Dillan).
      Etta buried Grand Rapids, Mich.
