A Growing Church For A Coming Lord
Where Jesus Christ Is Lord
Peace
Phillipians 4: 4, 6-7
Verse 4: "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."
When problems arise, when circumstances don’t seem to be right. Praise God, be happy, and Rejoice in God. He has, He is, and He always will take care of everything.
It might not be exactly how we want things to be, but rest assured, it is how God wants it to be. In verse four, He tells us what to do (Rejoice), who to do it to (the Lord), and when to do it (always). This instruction is so important, that it even tells us to do it again.
Verse 4: "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."
When problems arise, Rejoice. Rejoice to the Lord. Rejoice always . Then do it again. But not only that. Show your faith to God, by not worrying about the problem, or the circumstance, or whatever it is that seems to be plaguing you.
Verse 6: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Here, God tells us exactly what not to do, and exactly what to do. He tells us not to do the normal natural thing that we as humans do. Which is to worry. But to do the un-natural thing, and don’t worry. Or should I say the super-natural thing.
First He tells us to show our faith in Him by not worrying. Then He emphasizes this by telling us not to worry about anything. Then He tells us what to do. Pray. Again, showing our faith in Him.
But not only just to pray, but to further show our faith in Him by praying with thanksgiving. We are to go ahead and thank Him for answering our prayer and taking care of our problem or our circumstance, or whatever it is troubling us while we are praying.
He sums up by telling us to make our requests known to God. God already knows our hearts and our desires and our requests, but he wants us to show our faith in Him by telling Him what they are.
God will always answer our prayers. They will be answered according to His will and to show His glory. They will always be answered.
Verse 6: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Verse 7: "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
But then what happens? God will give you His peace. It’s not just a regular peace like a treaty between the United States and Russia, but a super-natural peace that we just can’t understand. I don’t understand it, but that’s okay. God gives it to me, and it’s awesome, so that’s all that matters with that!
This peace isn’t just a really good calm, but it is God’s soothing of both our minds (our humanistic nature) and our hearts (our spiritual nature). He takes care of us all around.
Verse 7: "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
4: Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
6: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
