Officers

Members of Toastmasters are given the privilege and responsibility of performing the role of an officer in their club. Officers are elected by the members annually and perform different tasks such as planning meetings, attending other Toastmasters events and handling club business. Officers are normally elected who have at least 1 year of experience in Toastmasters and are ready and willing to serve.

President

The President serves as the Club's chief executive officer and heads the Executive Committee which consists of the rest of the officers. The President is also responsible for general supervision and operation of the Club, opens the meetings and runs the business portion.

Immediate Past President

The Immediate Past President provides guidance and serves as a resource to Club officers and members. The Immediate Past President chairs the Nominating Committee, assists in the preparation of the Club Success Plan and promotes the Club's efforts to become a Distinguished Club.

Vice President of Education

The Vice President Education is responsible for planning successful Club meetings so that each member has the opportunity to achieve his or her educational goals. This officer plans Club meetings by completing schedules and distributing assignments at least two meetings in advance. The Vice President of Education is the second-highest ranking Club officer, presiding at Club and Executive Committee meetings in the absence of the President.

Vice President of Membership

The Vice President of Membership conducts ongoing membership building programs, provides literature to new guests, and answers any questions they may have. He or she helps a new member complete the application and conducts the induction into the Club. In addition, the VP of Membership follows up on and keeps track of guests, new members joining, and members' attendance.

Vice President of Public Relations

The Vice President of Public Relations promotes the Club to local media and announced upcoming events. He or she produces and distributes a Club newsletter as part of the newsletter staff and works closely with members to encourage contributions to the newsletter.

Secretary

The Secretary records and distributes meeting minutes, maintains an accurate membership roster, handles general Club correspondence and keeps Club files. He/she also works with the Treasurer to ensure that dues are sent to Toastmasters International on time and that accurate membership and financial records are kept.

Treasurer

The Treasurer helps to prepare and maintain the club budget. This officer pays expenses incurred by the other officers. In addition, the Treasurer collects and sends dues to World Headquarters twice a year and works with the Vice President of Membership to contact members who have not paid their dues.

Sergeant at Arms

The Sergeant at Arms sets up the meeting room before every meeting, maintains club equipment in working order and checks after every meeting to ensure adequate supplies are available. Other responsibilities of the Seargeant at Arms include greeting guests, arranging for guests to sit with members, and collecting ballots and tallying votes for awards.
